Samsung close 2008 with 10 million touchscreen phones sold

06 Jan, 2009

Samsung announced today that their touch screen handsets have sold over 10 million units around the world globe in 2008. That's a nice percentage out of the total of 37 million touch phones sold globally in 2008 according to Strategy Analytics.

Yesterday LG praised their Viewty reaching the 5 million sales mark and today Samsung hurry to answer back.

Out of the 10 million Samsung touch phones sold 1.12 million devices were grabbed in South Korea, while Europe snatched over 4 million, USA - 2.2 million and China - over 0.9 million.

We are glad to see touchscreen phones selling like hot cakes. 2008 was one of the best years for the technology so far, and we certainly hope so that 2009 will be even more exciting with perhaps more high-end touchscreen Symbian phones and a new and hopefully better iPhone.
