This phone has one big weak point: no SD card slot! This means you are stuck with 96Mb memory, which is not enough for both pictures and MP3s.

The phone will be available in Australia in the first half of next year (according to Samsung). This is all the information they would give me. You can purchase the phone on ebay.com.au. It's about $910 and is shipped from Hong Kong. For more product information visit: http://europe.samsungmobile.com/eng/mobile_phone/sgh-d500/feature.jsp

I decided I couldn't wait any longer Sophi and ended up getting one from the carphonewarehouse on an O2 tarrif of £35 a month but the phone itself was free. Its a contract for 200 minutes and 50 texts but it can be lowered after 6 months if you want.

well, in answer to your question marc, i live in stournridge so my nearest one is in merry hill shopping centre. I went in again today to check whether or not it is the 20th of december they are getting some and they said yes. Me and my mom are gunna ask for chairs and sit in the shop all day cus i reckon they will only have something dumb like 3 handsets in. i was going to get it from carphone warehouse last thrusday, but it's £10 more and you only get double texts and minutes for 3 months instead of 6 with o2, that's the only reason why i'm hanging on for it, i mean it doesn't bother me, but my mom said to wait... mothers hey... lol!! oh well nevermind!! fingers crossed i can get one from o2!! i hope you get one 2 Marc!!

Just got D500 today and it is great! Easy way to transfer mp3 is by infra red port, on winxp recognises easily and can transfer music and pics.
To all you students in the UK....you can get it for £50 with 120 cross net mins and 1000 texts a month for £25/month (Orange). If you trade in any old handset you get £50 which covers cost of phone! BARGAIN!!!

Soundmate is basically an accessory which clips into the side of the phone and acts as a loud speaker. It roughly double or triples the volume of the normal speaker. It is very clear and allows you to listen to mp3s without a head-set.
