Adrian: Definately Can't figure out how your phone would compose a text, dial a number and hit "send". If it's under warranty, call samsung. If not, throw it against a wall, pretty sure it will stop sending random sms.

Keith: with the usb cable usually comes a software along with usb driver. If you dont have one, check on ebay (very cheap) or download it on limewire... I use EasyStudio.

I bought this phone 1 year ago and I can tell it's worth the 360.US I paid back then. Even though it only has 96mb of embedded memory, it is enough for everyday use, need more? Buy a computer.
Yes, you can play sound files and mp3's without the external speaker.
Yes you can playback video files as long as you've converted them in G3P format(i suggest you either buy a usb dongle or the data xfer cable)
Camera (video & pictures + flash (white led))works good as long as you dont expect to film bed bugs mating.
No, you cant record a conversation
The screen is big and clear enough to not complain.
Battery life' cant tell but still working after 1 year, speaking average: 1 hour per day and 500 sms per month. I charge it once per 2 days.
I believe it is safe to activate gprs, i did, but i dont use it often.
Answer to Kellie: THIS PHONE HAS A SNOOZE! Hitting "ok" will probably turn your alarm off but using the side buttons will make it ring again in 5 minutes. (must mention that the 5 melodies are very bad and you cant change them)
I love the "slide style" and to me, only thing i wish i had on this phone is the 850 mhz band which gives (at least in quebec (CAN)) a better reception indoor (especially in basements)
Overall, voting results are not exagerated and if you take care of that piece of technology, it's gonna last long.
Ps: Keep an eye on the "protective cap" you removed when you charge the D500 because it is veeeery small, you lost it? Well, you can always try to find it with the 50 megapixel phone you just bought º¿º // I hope that this critic was constructive and my english comprehensive.
