i loved this phone when i first got it! i thought the games, camera quality, memory, bluetooth... ring tones, message tones, mp3 player was awesome!
EXCEPT! within 2 months of buying the phone... it completely shut down and the buttons just wouldn't work so i sent it back and it took ages to get fixed and when i finally got it fixed by the next two months it just started randomly freezing... and completely shutting down and i would lose half of my txt, game, ect. so again a sent it back and it took even longer to fix... when i finally got it back i had it maybe a month... and i was careful with this phone coz it was my first phone and i really liked it but it had a few bumps and drops... like all phones. but one day i just pulled it out of my school bag and BAM the screen had somehow cracked...so i tried to get it fixed in warranty and they seemed to think it was physical damage that normally only happens if i had "abused my phone" WTF! so now they tell me it cost pretty much the same i bought it for to fix... PIECE OF CRAP!

Reasons not to buy this phone:
1. Camera quality is terrible
2. Only 80gb memory
3. Can not set voice records to ringtone/message tone.
4. When you delete and open videos/pictures etc it takes more than 3seconds to load
5. The buttons ware out easily
6. Battery life is bad (3 hours talk time)
7. Bluetooth can only save 5 recipents
8. Games are boring
9. Average price for the d520 is $200 rip-off should be much less.
10. This phone is the worst i've ever had (i usually like Samsung phones.. sorry. i suggest you buy the U700 instead.. plz e-mail me for any reason at:seaannnn_66_99@hotmail.com thanks 4 reading

you know, if i were to rate this phone, i would give the design an 8-9, features 6-7, and performance a 0 or 1. this phone is actually not bad. it looks sleek and it's very nice looking.
HOWEVER this was the worst $225 i've ever spent. after less than a year (9months) the phone had so much dust that all the keys EXCEPT the dial pad stopped working. and because this phone is only offered in europe, if you have a problem - too bad. you can't get it fixed in the states. i have no idea how to even get the dust out. i've even tried to air it out with a can of air. :[

Hi Michael,
no it is not a problem, the phone comes like that and you have to change the settings. So go into settings --> Light settings --> External light. Switch it to 'off'.
Now it shouldn't blink anymore! :)
Let me know if you need any more help.
I've had this phone for 3 months now and it works like a charm!

It is too fragile. My screen stopped working and they would not repair it under warranty because it had 'physical damage'. Well, it had been dropped once or twice (as all phones are). But if it can't tolerate that it is pretty near un usable. It is now in the bin.

Not a bad phone although about a year after i bought it the buttons stuffed up. The samsung d520 has a great range of features and the quality for the image/video is crystal clear. The other down about this phone is it has limited memory space(80 megabites). Other than that this is a fantastic phone.

I got this phone a few days ago and like it a lot so far. I can use my mp3's as ringtones unlike my old phone. Also, the sliding feature is quite nice and it is very easy to use. The only problem I have with it is that it keeps blinking. When the phone is on, it kinda blinks on and off on the bottom where you have the on/off button with the ok circular button. I don't know why it does that. The only time it goes away is when I turn the phone off. Does anyone know if it's a big problem?

For design, it's good I like.
But features make me disapointe, no profile, no "vibrate and ring". that's why I haven't used any of Samsung so far.

I brought my Samsung D520 approximately 5 months ago and i have had nothing but troubles with it.
I had it replaced FOUR times by Vodafone because of it being faulty.
Now about a month ago it decided to break and the warranty being out of date for this kind of thing.
At the moment i am contemplating whether to get the phone fixed, which may i add is a complicated and long process, or just get a new one.
Not to mention it will cost upwards of $200 to fix, when i bought it it was $300.
I strongly recommend that you do not purchase this phone.
