CRACKED SCREEN; It seems that all the cases have been reported from UK ! Anybody got this phone from other parts have suffered from this,if you please report here with details, I think it would be a good positive move in fixing the problem also.

CRACKED SCREEN; the display is brilliant and eye-catching, but on the other hand it is very delicate and seems not very stable. Screen cracking cases appeared particularly in some batches of D900 and only in some part of the world? Anyway it won't be bad if we take a little care by avoiding overheating the display and instances of exerting too much pressure on it. The following may be of some help;
1.Don't keep the phone in the jean's /trouser's pocket. More comfortable in the breast pocket.
2. Keep the lcd brightness moderate. never use level 5
3. Minimise the use of vibration together with maximum ring volume
4.Use headset/tv-out for listening to music for long time
5. AND THE MOST IMPORTANT: USE A SPARE BATTERY AND EXTERNAL(DESKTOP) CHARGER FOR BATTERY CHARGING. The main cause of overheating is battery charging. Especially in cold countries, the screen not just heats up, but undergoes considerable variation in temperature while charging. You can see the temperature by typing from main screen, *#8999*8378#...H/W test...battery info. Of the last 4-5 months of its use, I've never plugged the charger into the phone !! I use a spare battery and Samsung external charger. I wait till the battery low message, then switch off, insert the full charged spare and put the other into external charger for recharging. LED changes from red to green on full charge. This method has some other advantages also- I never felt problem of insufficient battery life...The battery charges unused and undisturbed, so it's life increases etc.
i don't think these cost much, atleast cheaper than replacing an lcd screen! Here are the pictures of one which I use (the product code is given below the pic):

Screen Crack Problem!
I've had my D900 for 6 months now and everything about this phone WAS great. I'm not gonna lie, I thought this phone was one of the best all round for its price. BUT, one day while walking, i took my phone out of my front sweatpants pocket, to check the time and discovered that my LCD screen had just cracked!!! $#@#$ I have not dropped it, sat on it, or have done ANY physical damage as Samsung said. Mind you that i've had my share of nice phones including 2 of Nokia's N series, SE K790 and Samsung's E900 and I treat all of my cell phones as if it was my girlfriend. Thinking it might have been my fault, I Googled for D900 screens so i can replace it myself and to my surprise i came across a forum of hundreds of D900 users saying the EXACT same problem. click to view --> http://www.mobileplanet.com/ft.aspx?i=138117&thread=180 Samsung's D900 LCD screen is DEFECTIVE but not official. THis is because they do not have enough complaints and have not investigated the problem yet. That is why this problem is not covered under the warranty.
FOR POTENTIAL BUYERS:
I strongly do not encourage anyone to buy this phone until Samsung either fix this problem or atleast provides a better service for their manufacturing problem. But if you guys are 'ballers' and you do not mind paying around $90 US just to buy the screen on eBay everytime it unpredictably breaks, go ahead its a freaking good phone other than the LCD
FOR D900 USERS:
If your screen hasn't cracked, you're LUCKY for now! If your screen has already cracked, complain to Samsung and hopefully they will make it official for all the disapointed D900 users.

This phone is a disaster - the screen cracked after ten days. Not damaged or dropped, just in my pocket. The retailer told me they know there is a problem, but say that it isn't an "official" problem and won't do anything about it. They say Samsung problem - great! Don't buy this phone unless you keep it in cotton wool.

Thanks Dirk. Samsung SBH 170 is only bt ver 1.2. So jabra bt 620 is the right match as D900 is ver 2.0 itself.

Love the D900, my son got one so needed to get one too!
Slight problem though, my handset keeps turning itself off?
Is this is a known problem, is it something I am doing wrong?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

To DIRK:
Is Jabra BT 620, bluetooth version 2.0? Or ver 1.2? Thanks.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Its 2.0 Raj!! It works great in car ....just drove 200km in 2 hours to Brussels and played a playlist.....battery on D900 still full and the Jabra 620 has about 12 hour battery life.
I definetly recommend them because with the Jabra dongle you can also use them with your home PC or laptop. A range of about 20 meters in the house.

absolutely a class phone on its category.d900 is a amazing phone with extraordinary high resolution screen. it is a phone with no of features which is not available in other phones.
it is awarded the best gsm mobile phone for 2007.
if anybody wants to know a more about its feature kindly go thru the link provided by rajesh.

and regarding complain about battery back up it was already discussed here how to improve that by following some simple steps.
like setting display brightness to minm level ,ringtone in music mode, not using music player much etc .
and one more important point...
charge the battery fully when the mobile phone ask for it. that means the display comes " battery low ". by doing this it improves the battery life. so many of us charge it whenever they feel like charging but gradually the battery will loose its power. so charge it to maximum ( the three bar display stop moving in your screen )and even after u you find problem in battery , then always you can have one extra battery .
Normally i get a back up for nearly 2 days and i dont find any kind of problem.it varies from user to user but i suggest to go for a extra battery which is worth buying if it suits your budget.

Notorious;(you'll become famous if you buy the D900 :D ) I have the 'black carbon-whole black' and I like it. It is different from the one shown on the left side of this page with grey key pad and outer frame. I mean these;

Still your taste may differ. Photos of different colour models also can be downloaded from the guide (D900 PHOTOS)
I couldn't find the firmware version on the box. once you have the phone, you can find it by typing *#1234# while in main screen

TUDOR; Great work! I have seen that wallpaper but with some other figures like E1000 or so in place of D900. And now it became useful for D900ers also! (So you have a good gif editor with you :D )
That song also good. Thanks.
ps: Tudor, you can change publisher's name in 'My Account'(if it is your user id)

To the Notorious; Data transfer through usb is very fast. I copied a 13 MB video in 85 seconds and a 6 MB song in 40 seconds. That means average speed is above 150kbps, that's good speed.
Well, the pros, stylish slim slider design, superior and unmatchable display, good 3MP camera, mp4 video recording in QVGA & CIF, excellent working with EDGE-internet& e-mail, music player also above average with headset, good performance of bluetooth, and unique samsung features like uGo, uMenu, uTrack etc etc. Download D900 TIPS GUIDE from this link and refer 'Special Features' section to know more:
http://www.4shared.com/file/14956621/e227093a/D900-TIPSTRICKS.html
The cons; camera not good in dimlight, flash no use, battery life not very good-still managable, and volume through phone's speaker not very high if you compare with nokia /SE- (methods are there to make the ring tones loud), message tones cannot be customised, no external themes(but wallpaper can be set in menu background)......
Good phone in its class.
