      AnonD-10593, 06 Sep 2011well, thanks a lot for such a nice and detailed review.Othe... more> onscreen qwerty?
yes, yes for messaging and browsing

      > does the alarm goes off suddenly even no alarm is set as some people have complained?
hehe, not yet. i'm looking forward to the phantom alarm when the phone gets older. Nice thing about the alarms though is that you can assign a particular ringtone or mp3 PER alarm. What sucks is that the phone copies those mp3s from the SD to the phone memory first.

Another thing I found is that multiple alarms left unchecked (heavy sleeper) can drain the battery (perhaps because of the vibrations).

      > Last of all,can you try the pre-installed browser, facebook and twitter apps and tell whether they do the job fine or not?
I don't browse much anymore, because the Champ is so much slower than my old HSDPA phone. As I recall, the inbuilt browser is similar to Nokia's inbuilt for S60, although I haven't actually seen this one browse a large page-- you know, those pages that are larger horizontally than the screen. Inbuilt Facebook shows loads more than m.facebook.com. Nothing special about inbuilt twitter if you've had twittix before.

Since it doesn't multitask (except for music player, which you can actually leave on and forget about), I don't really know whether as I switch from inbuilt facebook to menu to inbuilt twitter to menu to inbuilt google to menu to samsung apps to..., I am being billed by my service provider for separate time blocks for those Internet incursions. Other PHL users please enlighten me.

      > and do u know the maximum capacity for text messages?
per message, 12 pages (1836 characters). 500 160-character text storage in phone, total for ALL folders (inbox+sent+pending+myfolders). Thus you may have 130 messages in your inbox, but if any one of those are more than 160 characters, then Memory will say you have expended >130 of the 500.

And oh, the Champ Duos is fng useless in sunlight!

PS. As you canvass, you might first look for data cable availability, because such does not come in this box, and Micro-B USB cables may be hard to find at this time. (Mine came from a WD external drive)

      Good luck.

Now there are a few things i must say..
First, the msg tone i was talking about was actually the "last call/msg charge" alert tone.I feel happy to know that there is no such tone becauz its very annoying while listening to music and sending msg..
Second, for installing java apps you can try changing the maximum memory limit for java by putting a certain code.I dont know the code but you can google it or ask other users in the forum..
Third, You may have forgotten to mention few things.one,is there any onscreen qwerty?
two, does the alarm goes off suddenly even no alarm is set as some people have complained?
Last of all,can you try the pre-installed browser, facebook and twitter apps and tell whether they do the job fine or not?and do u know the maximum capacity for text messages?

            a many thanks again..)

AnonD-10593, 02 Sep 2011i need some more clarifications.. 1.does the OS or Music... moreBought this phone a week ago after two weeks of both virtual and physical research; I even asked a friend in Samsung about it. In that time, I probably changed my mind 13 times, going back and forth between the Champ Duos E2652W, the Nokia C2-03, and the older Samsung B7722. This was so because without the need to carry two SIMs at the same time, the phone I had at that time was far more superior (and expensive) than the Champ Duos. I had been using different Nokias (including two slide phones) for over ten years; this is my first Samsung, but I finally settled on the Champ because the B7722 was not available any more and I didn't like the C2-03's "cutesy-pop" icons (who's gonna take me seriously in the office when they see those?). That there were no protective accessories yet in the market for the C2-03 and that the slide phone was historically prone to mechanical problems also played a factor.

I decided to write this opinion because past opinions in GSMarena were very helpful to me, both in comparing features between models and in accepting those features that the Champ cannot fulfill. Also, while the Champ has its flaws, I find it unfair that others say this phone is rubbish, or a waste of money, given that we bought this type of phone because we had a real need for dual SIM phones. As far as that promise goes, the E2652W delivers as a dual standby phone.

The letdown is that it doesn't run Google Maps; there had been hints about this in the Net, but I had to find out for myself. It hangs when installing Google Maps and Yahoo Mail (the app). It hangs when playing a 24KB 2-second mp4 video that the phone itself recorded. Themes cannot be customized. Contact numbers cannot be assigned to go through a specific SIM (unlike the C2-03). There are only a maximum of 6 sound profiles, which cannot change with themes. The user manual was inadequate; it took me some time before I figured out where the Hold button was (it's the screen unlock button). And my pet peeve of all is that there is no way to distinguish whether a message is read or unread.

What I like about it, is that when I send an SMS, it allows me to select a number from recently-used recipients. For usage-conscious customers, the Champs keeps a log of sent/received messages/calls/data through separate SIMs, whereas the C2-03 only keeps a total log. The screen is just 2.6 inches, so the the built-in stylus is pretty convenient; the C2-03 does not (which is probably why the C2-03 does not have a virtual QWERTY keypad). The Champ allows me to increase the font size of the SMS I'm reading (which is actually the reason I used to justify the purchase to the wife).

Wishlist. I wish there was a way to dial down the sensitivity of the touchscreen. I wish that since I bought a white model, Samsung partnered this with white headphones, and that the headphones had a clip!

                  Your other questions:
                  3. Music Player preset equalizers
Normal, Auto, Pop, Rock, Jazz, Dance, Classic, Wide, Live, Concert Hall, Clarity, Bass, Externalization

4.Can the music player be minimized playing songs while doing other things
Haven't tried browsing yet, but yes to messaging and file managment

5.the msg tone after sending a msg can be removed or not?
I never realized there was a message tone.

                  6. is the memory card under the battery i.e. the battery has to be removed to insert or replace the memory card?
It's not under, but you still have to remove the battery to take the SD out.

7.how does a 4gb sandisk card operates?does it hangs or runs fine?
I use a 4GB Sandisk, no problem except for the phone hanging that is independent of the SD card

8.java apps like opera mini 6, google maps, gmail, snaptu and nimbuzz can be installed and used or not?
Don't dare anymore, considering Yahoo Mail won't install. But I did get to install Sliding Block and Global Weather
