Samsung Exynos 7570 is first entry-level chipset built on 14nm FinFET

Peter, 30 August, 2016

Samsung's Exynos chipsets won a reputation as top performers last year, but now the company has started mass production of chipsets for the masses - the Exynos 7570 Quad.

The new chipset is aimed at entry level phones as it has a quad-core processor and supports screens up to 720p. However, it is the first chipset in its class to be built on the efficient 14nm FinFET technology.

This means it uses 30% less power to deliver 70% more performance over its predecessor. The processor has four Cortex-A52 cores, but there's no word on the GPU (a Mali-T8xx most likely).

Anyway, the chipset supports up to 13MP + 8MP cameras that record 1080p video. On the connectivity side, there's relatively fast LTE Cat. 4 with 2 carrier aggregation, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, GPS and even FM radio.

The Exynos 7570 Quad will power entry-level phones, while the mid-range has the Exynos 7870 Octa - it's also built on 14nm but has eight A53 cores, support for higher screen resolution and faster LTE.

Samsung should buy AMD then make server processors. Intel Xeon needs a competition.
