I've just about given up on this phone. I was hoping Samsung would be in the game and putting pressure on the other manufacturers. The more in the game the better for us consumers ... competition is key.
The longer I hear nothing on this phone the more I find myself looking at the alternatives from LG.

i'm tired of waiting already..... they better come out with some new features when they release this - wifi maybe? or else, i agree, it'll be outdated. anyone knows the new 'time' of release? since 3rd quarter doesn't seem like a good indicator anymore?

The competition is finally out! Two touchscreen HSDPA-enabled 5 megapixel camera phones head to head. (Well, it looks through that the Koreans are the fastest and best-est at coming out with top features!) Who will win? Samsung, make some noise!

The CommunicAsia Fair was held in Singapore this June. It is one of the major tech fair and many visitors from around the world congregate here.
I was down at Samsung's booth but F700 was not showcased there. If it was indeed a major phone, I would expect it to be showcased there (unless of course it is not supposed to be released in Singapore. Yet, the other phone manufacturers showcased all their phones, even if not intended for Singapore, because of the international crowd) - which led me to suspect that this phone might not be out, seeing that, there has not been any spy pics yet after its offical announcement in Feb. If I am not wrong, nobody was allowed to touch the phone during its announcement, which might mean that it wasn't ready anyway during the announcement. There seems to be no news on the touchscreen mechanism as well.
On the other hand, many spypics have appeared of the LG KU990 and seeing that they are capable of the Prada Phone, I believe that they are capable of the KU990 too! Just not sure when it will be released. Hopefully in the next one or two months.
And just read that Nokia will be having an announcement on 29 Aug. They might show a good competitor to this phone!

Is it just me or everyone is starting to get the feeling that this phone is a big hoax?! at least for now... First of all, there is no official info regarding release dates, weight, operating system or battery life. With such data missing I would say that such phone has a while till it hits the market. It would seem that such early announcement is targeted to hold the place for the ambitious F700 until its release especially with the sony Ericsson P1 & iPhone hitting the shelves earlier. Personnally, I am bored of this wild goose chase, I am buying a P1.

If not for the lack of wifi, this would've been the ultimate iPhone killer!
But even as it is, its already way above the apple of discord

Benson - I think you might be right about Samsung rushing to announce the F700. It is odd that months have gone buy with no official announcement or follow-up information.
The LG 990 does look like it will be a challenger in this space. Let's hope this one comes to market soon.
I think in another month or so we'll see a flurry of announcements from all the vendors. With holiday shopping around the corner I am sure they all want to grab a piece of the pie.

Has anyone seen the LG KU990? It looks like a competitor to Samsung f700!

Apparently Samsung F520 has been cancelled, I read on Cnet Asia. Samsung F700 won't go the same way I hope, though it seems a bit long now that there is still no information.
It seems like they might have rushed the Samsung F700 for announcement simply to compete in Feb with the iPhone.

yeah, good question... when will it???
I have yet to see any official information anywhere as to release dates for this phone; even on the Samsung site. All the reviews I have read speak only to the specifications on this phone. None of them actually speak to having the phone in their hands testing in a live environment.
Let's hope GSM Arena is able to review it soon.

to find out if this phone will work in your reagion, just call your carrier to find out what GSM band they broadcast on. You could also do a search online and find this info.
Example:
In Canada, Rogers uses both 850 & 1900 MHZ GSM so ideally you want a phone with both bands. You should be OK with just 1900 MHz.
In the US, you find 1900 MHz used more often. There a numerous carriers in the US so some might also use 850 MHZ. Just call and check with the carrier
In Europe and Asia you fin the 900 MHz & 1800 MHz bands being used. I live in North AMerica so I am not going comment on which carrier or country there uses what. But it will likely be one or both of these.
Therefore, the F700 should be OK for most people in Asia & Europe. But check with your carrier - don't just take my word for it.
If you are in North America like me, you might find coverage with F700 spotty if you are traveling throughout the continent. Again, just my opinion - check with your carrier.
