RIP, 13 Dec 2008Thnx Joe!! for both response to my question my the firmware... moreIn order to read texts while the phone is still closed via touchscreen, you must download the new firmware. To do this, do the following:
1. Got to this address:
http://uk.samsungmobile.com/supports/softwaremanuals/softwareUpdate.do
2. Download and install the new version of PC Studio listed, but DON'T run it.
3. Install the Phone Software Updater provided at the link. This is an addon for PC Studio.
4. Open your G400 and go to Settings -> Phone settings -> PC Connections select "Samsung PC Studio"
5. Connect the phone to your computer via USB cable.
6. Open PC Studio and select Phone Software Update.
This process will take a while, depending on your internet connection. Took me 30 minutes. Make sure to NOT disconnect the phone during this time. Do not turn off your computer either. And don't disable your internet either. Any errors can permanently ruin your phone. Updating the firmware is a sensitive process so please do so at your own risk. I also did this with an english language phone so if you're using one that is in a foreign language, you may consult your region's website.
And, yes, you can make a call, connect the headset and then close the phone. Your call will continue without hanging up.

How about my second question? - Can you set active flip to be off? I mean when I using headset, can I make a call and close the flip without ending my call?
I feel like I want it for my new year gift.. ha ha

Joe, i have a question for you.
i have bought the G400, but when i receive text messages and i want to read them on my touch screen, it says that you can't read them before you open the phone. Do you know how to read them without opening your phone?

I read the same misinformation when considering this phone. Glad I went for it anyway. Speaking of which, to all G400 owners, there is an updated firmware available! It's quite good. It speeds up the menus. This is especially true in the image menus. The touch screen is also much much much more responsive. And, the best change I've come across so far, you can now read texts as you receive them without opening the phone! So there ya have it.

Hi guys! just want to check something before buying this phone.
- Does this phone really don't have EDGE? I saw in Thai review that there were "E" icon on top line of the display. and the manual I download from Samsung web site also exsplain about meaning of this icon.

But turns out, you can only use it for video calls. So i just wanted to make sure the inner camera for the G400 can be used for photo taking before i purchase the phone. thanks! :)

za, 27 Nov 2008can you still take pictures when the camera's on the inside... moreof course you can. the inner camera is the main camera when you open up the phone. plus, all samsungs with dual camera (3G) allows photo taking using the secondary camera.

can you still take pictures when the camera's on the inside? Does is it work like nokia front cameras? Sony Ericson phones can't do that. Their front cameras can only be used for video calls. Not for taking pictures.
