Samsung Galaxy A05 does Geekbench 6 with a Helio G85 chipset
Evidence of the Samsung Galaxy A05 has started to appear with several model numbers surfacing – SM-A055F and SM-A055M, plus dual SIM versions of the same. Now the F variant has done several runs of Geekbench 6.
Based on the scorecard, the phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 chipset (MT6769V/CZ). This is a decent upgrade over the Galaxy A04, which used the Helio P35.
Both are 12nm chips, but the G85 has two Cortex-A75 cores (2.0GHz) and six A55 cores (1.8GHz), compared to eight Cortex-A53 cores on the P35. That doubles the single-threaded performance and boosts multi-threaded tests too. On top of that, the Mali-G52 MC2 is more than twice as fast as the PowerVR GE8320 GPU.
This particular Galaxy A05 unit was equipped with 4GB of RAM, which is decent in this category, but the A04 had versions with 3GB and 4GB on board. More importantly, it’s enough to run full-blooded Android (v13 in this case), rather than dipping down to Go Edition.
We haven’t heard anything official about the phone yet, but considering that the Galaxy A04 and A04s were both unveiled in late August (not to mention all the certification going around), it can’t be long now.
