Samsung Galaxy A15 5G review
Three cameras on the back, one at the front
The Samsung Galaxy A15 5G has the same cameras as the Galaxy A15 4G, a kit that is similar to most of Samsung's cameras on other affordable Galaxy A phones. There are three rear-facing cameras - a 50MP primary, a 5MP ultrawide cam, and a 2MP macro. The selfie cam is 13MP.
- Wide (main): 50 MP Hynix Hi5022Q f/1.8, 26mm, 1/2.8", 0.64µm, PDAF; 1080p@30fps
- Ultra wide angle: 5 MP SmartSense SC501CS, f/2.2, 17mm, 1/5", 1.12µm, fixed focus; 1080p@30fps
- Macro: 2 MP GalaxyCore GC02M1, f/2.4, fixed focus.
- Front camera: 13 MP GalaxyCore GC013A, f/2.0, 26mm, 1/3.06", 1.12µm, fixed focus; 1080p@30fps
The camera app is the same as you'd find on every Samsung phone these days. You only get Pro mode and Night Mode on the main camera.
Daylight photo quality
The main camera on the Galaxy A15 5G saves good photos in 12.5MP default resolution. There is enough resolved detail, no visible noise and wide dynamic range. The colors are pleasant and mostly accurate.
The photos are a bit over-sharpened and sometimes this is masked with some sort of smoothening, which you can tell rather easy.
The 2x shortcut on the viewfinder offers digital zoom only.
The 5MP ultrawide camera saves poor photos, almost unusable. While they do have great dynamic range and likable colors, they are incredibly poor in detail, sometimes noisy, too.
The 2MP macro camera captures mediocre photos - the detail is average, there is visible noise, but the colors are okay. That is, of course, if you succeed in shooting a photo that is on focus.
The selfie camera saves good 13MP photos - those are detailed, with low enough noise, adequate dynamic range and realistic colors.
Low-light photo quality
The main camera saves mostly poor photos at nighttime. The resolved detail is low, there is a lot of smeared noise, and the dynamic range is narrow. The colors are good, on the other hand.
Night Mode is available for this camera and you should use it as it greatly improves, well, everything. The Night Mode photos are detailed and colorful, with low noise and wide dynamic range.
Quite expectedly, the ultrawide camera saves poor photos at night - dark, noisy, with super narrow dynamic range, and, of course, low on detail.
Video recording
The Galaxy A15 5G captures 1080p@30fps videos with its primary, ultrawide, and selfie cameras. There is support for electronic stabilization on the main and ultrawide cameras, unlike the Galaxy A15 4G.
The video bitrate is generous at 17Mbps in 1080p resolution. Audio is captured stereo with a 256Kbps bitrate, and the sound is good across all videos.
The main camera saves good 1080p videos - they are detailed, with realistic colors, good dynamic range and no visible noise. The rendition looks somewhat artificial though, over-processed.
The night video is a bit underexposed, but solid, nevertheless. There is enough resolved detail, low noise, acceptable dynamic range and good colors.
The ultrawide camera videos are poor day and night. Sure, the one taken at broad daylight would probably serve a purpose if you need to fit a lot in the frame and you don't care about the quality, but the low-light one is unusable.
The selfie video is surprisingly nice! It offers a well-exposed and detailed subject, with good color rendition. The dynamic range is enough for the purposes of selfie videos. If only this were stabilized though - right now, as is - it is unusable.

I got A15 5g, 8gb/256gb. It's a good phone for a $200-below price. Depending on your retailer - I got a samsung charger + the usb cable from where I bought it. This one has a FM radio (not sure with the 4gb/128gb variant). No screen record...
