Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) update brings May security patches

Vlad, 30 June 2017

Samsung's Galaxy A3 (2017) is now receiving its first software update in Europe, almost half a year after it was released. Better late than never? Maybe, though software-wise the A3 (2017) is and has always been anything but up to date. It launched with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on board many months after Android 7.0 came out.

And now it's getting an update which includes the May security patches... at the end of June. In fact, it's pretty obvious that most A3 (2017) owners will only get this in July, because such rollouts take at least a few days to reach every unit out there. That makes the phone almost two months behind even when it comes to security updates.

The rollout is currently underway for the SM-A320FL model, the one sold in Europe. After applying it you'll be on the May 1, 2017 security patch level and the new build is A320FLXXU1AQE1. Aside from the security fixes, it also brings with it some unnamed performance and stability enhancements.
