I got the December update. It was about 250mb and was written to be only security update without other changes. Installed very fast and after it there is no change in behaviour, but lets see if battery life is the same.

The fact is software optimization, software support, camera output etc of Samsung especially their A series and S series phones are clearly superior to anything Chinese alternatives also the fact that your data is under Chinese surveillance too if that makes you even happier.
