Samsung Galaxy Buds leak in black, will have smaller battery than Gear IconX (2018)

In the past Samsung has often paired its new flagship with a pair of premium headphones and the Galaxy S10 is no exception. Except instead of a pair of AKG headphones, you’ll be getting the new Galaxy Buds.

They can be charged wirelessly by the S10 phones and they need it too as the buds themselves only have 58mAh batteries and the case has 252mAh more. Compare that to the Gear IconX (2018), which had 82mAh in the buds and 340mAh in the case.

And those weren’t exactly famous for their battery life. Using the reverse wireless charging of the Galaxy S10 is only a partial solution – even if you bought one, these buds can play music even without a phone.

The Galaxy Buds can work in stand-alone mode with double the offline storage of the IconX, 8GB total (this should be enough for around 2,000 songs). They also upgrade to Bluetooth 5.0 (up from 4.2). The new buds will keep sweat-resistance rating (IPX2).

Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Buds alongside the S10 and will put them in the promotional pre-order package in some countries. They should be available for purchase separately around the same time as the S10 (early March).
