With today's 5000mAh battery and efficient chipsets such as SD695 or SD778G, it would absolutely excel as a point-and-shoot. I would expect a much larger sensor used in it.

... moreYou should still keep in mind it is a phonecamera, wich means compared to a DSLR it has a much smaller sensor wich equals worse image quality. This dont have to mean its bad, but in comparison it wont be able to compete.
As for the see instantly on a 4.8 inch display, you cant do that on a DSLR but if you have wifi or a wifi SD card for your DSLR you can instantly see them on a phone or tablet over the wifi. However no cellphone screen is big enough imo to see if the result of your photo is spot on.
