Its like samsung galaxy win or quattro in india which is quad core. I wonder if this is more affordable and perform well.

yeah you are right that cortex a5 is low performing chip but you have to also take into account that it is quad core chip at 1.2 ghz.. and if you compare it with dual 1 ghz krait the performance is not much different cpu wise.. but it will be good only in tose apps which ustitlizes full 4 cores.. i think most apps are now designed to support 4 cores.. i too won't buy it because it comes with adreno 203.. see dmips for processors

                a5- 1.6
                a7- 1.9
                a8- 2.0
                a9 -2.5
                krait- 3.3
                a15 - 3.5

multiply it by clock speed and no of cores..

                a5 quad = 1.6 x 4 x 1.2 = 7.688 4 ores genrally operate at 80-85 % of the capacity so ar0und 6.4

                krait dual - 3.3 x 2 x 1 = 6.6

as you can see the performance difference is hardly 5 % between dual krait and quad a5.. so do not disregard it as completely waste... you can confirm the same by checking antutu scores of cpu... it scores high because of presence of extra cores but in single threaded performance dual krait will kill it.. just wanted to make a point cortex a5 quad is not that bad as people think it is .. there is not much difference between a5 and a7 still people hail a7 as masterpiece in xolo q800 and mmx a116 and crib about a5

The Shephard, 05 Jun 2013This phone will do its job regardless of its chip(only 480p... moreyeah, the phone will do it's job. But Xperia M has Krait cores and as you said Krait's performance lies between Cortex A9 and A15 and Adreno 305 with 1 GB RAM so it is a better choice, right?(XM also also has 720p video recording)...And Optimus F3 also has good specs but i think it will be priced much higher than Core and XM because it is sporting 1.2Ghz processor and IPS display and not forget 4G LTE...

Manju, 04 Jun 2013you were right Mr.Shephard...it has Snapdragon S4 Play chip... moreThis phone will do its job regardless of its chip(only 480p capable) but price will be the deciding factor.
The Xperia M now has the same chipset as
Nokia Lumia 520 (which costs 10K)
                      i.e. Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8227
1 GHz Dual-core Krait should put its benchmarks right between cortex A9 and cortex A15.
Adreno 305 scores 6.3 fps in 1080p offscreen test
However Mali 400 MP scores 6.8 fps in the same test (this is not the single core mali 400, MP could mean MP2(dual-core) or MP4(quad-core)
There have been various leaks on the internet about MT 6572 from mediatek having a Mali 400MP gpu. MT 6572 has a combo connectivity chip which reduces its cost significantly and is completely 720p capable...its rumored to be in phones which cost around 100$...
Micromax should soon be implementing this chip and bringing phones in the range 6K-8K which is good news for people who dont want their phone to cost an arm and a leg.

Is this phone a real active dual sim card?, meaning if i am speaking on sim 1, and I get a call on sim 2, can I put sim 1 on hold?, talk to sim 2, and get back to sim 1. And this should be done without using any call forwarding option between sim 2 and sim 1.

                              Thanks for your reply

it's quite clear that it uses a snapdragon s4 play cpu. Novathor and Broadcom dual-core cpus support 720p videos. S4 play doesn't. anyway, this phone is supposed to sit next to the s advance and below the s3 mini.

The GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) is a specialized circuit designed to accelerate the image output in a frame buffer intended for output to a display. GPUs are very efficient at manipulating computer graphics and are generally more effective than general purpose CPUs for algorithms where processing of large blocks of data is done in parallel. Modern smartphones are equipped with advanced embedded chipsets that can do many different tasks depending on their programming. GPUs are an essential part of those chipsets and as mobile games are pushing the boundaries of their capabilities, the GPU performance is becoming increasingly important.
