Samsung Galaxy Fame review: In the spotlight

In the spotlight

Display

The Samsung Galaxy Fame employs a 3.5" capacitive touchscreen, and as this is a budget smartphone, there are no special display technologies included. The brightness is acceptable, but the viewing angles are sub-par, and the display is very prone to fingerprint smudges.

The Galaxy Fame display has mediocre image quality

The HVGA resolution on the Fame results in a pixel density of just 165ppi, but it's hard to expect much more in this price range. it's by no means too bad to look at. Of course, those 720p and 1080p monsters of a screen look way sharper, but this one is pretty crisp, too.

The contrast ratio is not among the best, but is on par for this class.

Sunlight legibility is nothing short of great, too. Check out how the Galaxy Fame did in our dedicated test.

Handling

Overall, the Samsung S6810 Galaxy Fame is a phone of commendable ergonomics. Reasonably thick and not too heavy, it's pretty easy to handle and slips comfortably into pockets. The arguably more up-to-date styling of the current Galaxy generation means that the paintjob might get overly slippery in some cases, but the curved back panel lets the device rest comfortably in your palm.
