Samsung Galaxy Fold's display gets certified for supreme eye comfort

Ro, 18 April 2019

The new Samsung Galaxy Fold is making a lot of headlines these days and this report from the German TÜV Rheinland might help build some more hype. The lab has certified the Galaxy Fold for being safe for your eyes.

The harmful blue light emissions emitted by the display have been brought to a minimum. A record-breaking 7% of the display's wavelengths fall in the 415-455nm spectrum that's bad for your eyes. Thus, the agency gave the phone an "Eye Comfort" certification.

It appears that Samsung has mastered the production of OLED panels to a point where you don't need any additional hardware or software, which skew color accuracy, to reduce the harmful blue light emissions. The new production process of the tiny LEDs doesn't interfere with the color reproduction of the DCI-P3 color space either.

Out of context, that would be quite the statement. But the problem with the whites is that they are either too blue or too yellow
