I performed advice you gave in your post and I managed to free up some memory but I am believe I will have to buy new phone soon :)

But you can select your apps to transfer their data to external memory you inserted in the phone
if some apps not allow you to transfer their data to external memory force them
as follows:
get in Developer options
turn on toggle force app to external
to activate developer options
go to Settings /about phone/ Software informations/ push 7 times on build No.
then get back to Settings list you'll find developer options appears last thing in the list

Had this phone for 2 years, and from the moment I got it and used it, it was performing awfully. I had to make do with it for a while since I couldn't afford to get another one. If you are looking for a semi-decent phone...then I DO NOT recommend you getting this awful phone!
It' barely has any space to store a few of my daily apps. (16GB storage simply ISN'T enough after basic app updates, modern apps need at LEAST 32GB MINIMUM)
I don't play mobile games on it at all, but it's always full, forcing me to get rid of my most used apps like MS Word to download another app I need to use for school. The camera is also trash, absolutely abysmal for taking basic pictures. Nothing good really about this phone that I can say besides it being 'cheap'. (Still not worth it.)
DO NOT waste your hard-earned money on this garbage phone, use your money on something better.
