Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro and J7 Max unveiled with focus on social media

Peter, 14 June 2017

The Galaxy J series is Samsung’s best performer in India and a couple of socialites have joined the party - the Galaxy J7 Pro and Galaxy J7 Max. Both like sharing photos and going on shopping sprees.

The two J7s feature two 13MP cameras - one on the back and one on the front. Both are accompanied by LED flashes and have bright apertures for better low-light photography (f/1.7 back, f/1.9 front). A fast f/1.7 lens had so far been reserved for Samsung’s premium offerings.

Social camera is a new feature that makes editing and sharing photos near instantaneous. You can pin your favorite contacts from Facebook, Messenger and WhatsApp so you can send them a snap in just a tap. Live stickers create Snapchat-like AR effects, you can add traditional stickers and color effects too.

Then there’s Samsung Pay - the J7 Pro is getting it, the J7 Max is getting Pay Mini instead (a debut in India). Both support India’s Unified Payments Interface and can store your credit and debit cards. Both phones have fingerprint readers to secure the transactions.

Now for the phones themselves. The Galaxy J7 Pro boasts a 5.5” 1080p Super AMOLED display and is powered by an Exynos 7870 chipset (octa-core A53, Mali-T830) with 3GB of RAM and 64GB storage. It features a 3,600mAh battery and will launch in mid-July at INR 21,000 ($330).

The Galaxy J7 Max has a larger 5.7” IPS 1080p LCD and a MediaTek Helio P20 chipset (octa-core A53, Mali-T880) with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. It has a slightly smaller battery, 3,300mAh.

The Max is coming on June 20 for INR 18,000 ($280). Also note its smart glow notification ring around the camera.

Seriously is J7 PRO 21k, WTF?? What it makes differ from j7 prime? At least 4gb, or 625 snapdragon accepted new design good but it doesn't make any sense at 21k. Being I'm Samsung freak it's great disappointed 😞.... Expected alot but you came...

Shouldn't have A72 Cores at the very least. 5.5" and 5.7" are too closely spaced together. Should have been 5.5" and 6.0". A9 Pro with a 5,000mAh battery, A72 Cores, and 6.0" display is so much better. http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_g...
