My older brother, who isn't tech savvy, is looking for a smartphone with a budget up to £350 and not really bothered about specs too much as long as performance is good and battery is a killer. He's been looking at this phone, but can you please recommend similar phones or better with the price range I mentioned. Thanks

Both of them stated that the rating is obtained by conducting tests specified by IEC 60529 in controlled lab environment. Apple has a similar statement on their website.

Based on my understanding there's NO official IP rating institution. IEC 60529 is just a standard and IEC does not conduct any kind of testing. Every manufacturer just test by themselves.

The M series is designed to compete with the Chinese phones, where most don't have IP rating either.
Getting official IP rating (not Xiaomi's IP "tested") is not cheap. The M series is focused on bang for the buck for the spec.

Get a stinking life, mate! This isn't a premium device to get 3.0 and anyone buying it wouldn't care.
2.2 is more than enough for this. Be glad it has an SD slot and OIS.

Exyos chips may not be getting nearly enough attention by the developers, so, I expect a lot of optimization issues, hehe, I would have considered this phone if it had a Snapdragon or dimensity chipset instead, but I don't want to risk the payment, because its price is doubled here in Egypt, lol
