If simplicity is they key for best OS for you, i would say iOS and Meego is the best because it keep the steps as few as possible and the steps is less complicated because it used the approach of "what u see is what u get".
But if freedom and flexibility is your choice of best OS i would say Android and Symbian is the front runner mostly due to less limitation in the OS and user are free to do what they intend to do in the OS from their phone.
When you judge from the real technical side of OS, looking into the cores, the processing, multitask capability, resource use and etc, i would say Symbian is the winner, follow by Android. Because Symbian is a mature OS which able to do all the things that real OS should do and have all the core framework that makes it a true capable OS and use less resource such as processing power and memory if compared with other OSes.
But if eye-candy and joy of usage and plenty of apps are your choice, iOS and Android is they winner. Because they have all the nice effects, beautiful interface and icons and have all the gestures that make the experience joyful. Plus tonnes of apps can be found makes user able to choose more.
But for me, whether everyone like it or not, Symbian is the best when it come to the most technically complete OS. Period!!
But of course most people prefer iOS and Android because more apps available and the devices carry more power to attract people.

i think $500 is wrong price
if this is phone named galaxy M, the class is between galaxy W and galaxy Y, so the specs and price is lower than galaxy W and higher than galaxy Y ..
just my opinion

Galaxy S > R > W > M > Y
It's in lower class than Galaxy W. As for the price, well maybe we should wait for the official announcement..

Lack of good processor(only 1GHz gal. W has 1.4GHz)and camera.this is first model with AMOLED display with 3.15mp camera i hav seen yet ie i cant understand whether it is high budget model or midrange model?

Another slate, sad unispiring,this galaxy is looking like its plunging in its own blackhole..
Still GB 2.3 not even 2.3.3??? Arc S has ICS out-of the-box.

Samsung seems to be stuck on the name galaxy forever...else...Designers,Ad department are vacant!!
Sammy will loose the market share by flooding it with these clones.
Is a new name so difficult> no to mention the design! Apathy at its best. Phew!
