First of all, the "higher pixel density" is not indicative of "better quality", it's just a smaller screen with the same resolution, which is the only reason for the "higher density", get over yourself. Secondly the AMOLED screen has LESS quality than the Mega 6.3's SLCD screen in every way. Much worse color accuracy, much lower overall brightness, NOT more "vividness", NOT better viewing angles, just artificial over-saturation of colors caused by the inherent limitations of the technology. The pen, yes, that's a real consideration, the only true thing you mentioned. Most users, even of the Note 2, don't care for it in the first place.

2 compare to Mega 4.2.2 out of the box, I don't think Samsung will be rushing 4.3 update for Note2 as they would prioritise Note3 sales, updating Note2 may cause user reluctant to upgrade to Note 3.

Choosing between the Note 2 and the Galaxy Mega is 100 defined by what is important to the user because choosing either will force you to sacrifice a major feature. Choosing the Note 2 gives you a higher Pixel Per Inch density resulting in a higher quality display. Combine this with A super Amoled display on the Note 2 versus the LCD TFT screen of the Mega and clarity and color vibrance becomes a clear winner on the Note 2. Both displays are a maximum of 720p so none are true 1080p. The Note 2 comes with a stylus providing an easy screen capture and other features where the Mega gives a larger viewing area with a similar processor so speeds will be alike. If your a size freak, the absense of the sPen to gain a larger screen may be worth it to choose the Galaxy Mega, but if you want higher quality displays and value that more than the screens sheer size then choose the Note 2.

Mega 6.3 is a perfect mobo beast with lastest snapgradon 4oo as better than note 1 & 2. There is lil bit difference between mega n note 2.
I am using mega 6.3 right now and believe me its fast smooth and sexy as phablats are.
But the most important thing is battery timing and mega 6.3 beast can make 24+ hour with 1 charge.
