I have had 3 Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 phones in the past 6 months. The first one got smashed and the second one wouldn't boot up. It just kept on rebooting. I currently use the third one and I am going to buy a HTC Desire C as all three Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 phones are bad. They are slow even though their processors are alright for a budget phone (800 MHz) and the touchscreen is sometimes unresponsive. They lag a lot and I warn you to stay AWAY from this phone!

- The touchscreen is frozen very often
- The SW remains stuck in BOOT
- Some warnings about the battery temperature appeares once in a while
- Sometimes, when somebody calls me, I cannot answer, the screen is black, the touchscreen is not accessible
I don't recommend this phone

I have had two Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 handsets since June this year (2013) and both have had a problem with the keyboard freezing and not allowing me to complete a text message. I had them both only a few weeks before this problem started. I'm only a simple mobile phone user - calls, texts, photos and videos. Other than this problem I loved the phone so am disappointed and have chosen to replace it with a Galaxy Ace.

mini 2 is a cool smartphone (powerful also , i am playing with no lag nfs mw , shadowgun, subway surf, temple run 2 , gta 3 (gta vc lags sometimes you need to clean the ram before playing)) , for people who say it's laggy just use your task manager and ram cleaner and instal cm10 (cleaned of samsung bloatware), i am runing cm10.1(android 4.2.2 i'll try 4.3 when camera will be fixed )it runs super smooth with overclock (1ghz is enough to make it better than stock 2.3) and there is no battery drain (i underclocked the minimum cpu frequency so now it consumes less power when sleeping or while you let it rest without apps running , it was more than 220mhz now it is 120mhz)

Anonymous, 20 Oct 2013Thanks for the advice...The phone is indeed slow and crashe... moreHello, its not 2 ROMS, basically you get rid of 2.3.6 GB android OS and install 4.2.2 JB, its simple as that.
I had 0 knowledge over flashing, rooting, stuff like that, since I got a new phone(LG L5 II) and I had nothing else to do with Mini 2 I decided to try installing a ROM on it and find out if makes a difference and boy it does!
I will tell you what I did to make things easier for you, first of all I documented myself a bit about flashing, rooting, ROM, definition of these words, I suggest reading to know whats up and have an idea about it.
I did all the work from this page: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2456907
you can find guides there too, i suggest reading them as well.
Maybe you will understand me better: notice there in step 1), says you must have custom-recovery, "custom-recovery" is basically a program which acts like BIOS on a PC, in this case a "BIOS" on an Android smartphone, from my view. installing ClockWorkMod on your phone, is like changing the BIOS from PC, in this case on your phone, through that program you do everything else like, installing the ROM(CM 10.1)
To install ClockWorkMod you need Odin on your PC (i suggest 3.07 version the one i used), but again read the guides as well, its very helpful. I followed the steps carefully, double-check twice, and it worked for me, be cautious, take your time and do not rush.
I never cared about warranty after my phone accidentally fell on soup, water, asphalt, was stolen 1 month from me, recovered and its still working as new with barely 2 minor scratches on it.
My model is Galaxy Mini 2 S6500D, runs so fast compared to the original version, I have Jelly Bean 4.2.2 now(cyanogenmod 10.1 stable version), its amazing to me how decent it performs, I downloaded gta 3 on it and it runs decent it wowed me, even the battery is improved, amazing, I hope I helped. Cheers.

But I hear that flashing the phone is not something easy that one can 'do at home', and it voids the warranty.
Also what do you mean 'to add a rom'? You have 2 now?
Greets!!

If you have this phone take my humble advice and install CyanogenMod 10.1(stable version) I promise you wont regret it.
I have this phone for a year now, was angry cause it moves slow, not receiving Jelly Bean, and I decided to try flash it and add a rom, I installed CM 10.1 and it moves decent, its basically a mini-nexus I'm so satisfied of it its awesome.
