Why anybody in the world will throw their own mobile into water. I know you are talking about Sony, Sony's phones are water resistant (not water proof).

I just got it yesterday. I compared it with note2, in many aspects, samsung make note3 near perfect. Polished UI and software, top spec hardware. 10 out of 10

I will better go by what is mentioned on the product and terms and conditions which says SIM locked in region. What happens if the phone resets or you get changed some hardware while travelling or you end up in countries which is not part of Samsung whitelist. Remember you paid full maount for an unlocked phone, so why this complexity

AnonD-8545, 27 Sep 2013I check note-III yesterday nice but stupid decision by sams... more The Galaxy Note 3 (and other Samsung smartphones that are region-locked) is capable of working with SIM cards from every part of the world. However, what’s important is the SIM card you first use when you set up the phone – if you turn on the handset for the first time with a SIM from the same region it was bought it, it will be automatically unlocked for use with any SIM in the world.

For example, if you bought your Note 3 in Netherlands, you’ll have to activate the phone/turn it on for the first time with a SIM issued by a European operator, after which you can travel anywhere and use a local SIM card without any issues. Similarly, if you buy it in the USA, you’ll have to turn it on for the first time with a SIM from any of the US carriers/network operator.

Despite all the bells and whistles, as a note 2 owner i'm really disappointed in Samsung for omitting the hardware FM Radio from the Note 3. It's one of the reasons i did'nt even consider looking at the S4 and now that it's also missing from the Note3. i'm seriously considering other options. Why should i spend more money for less functionality? I'm not like the isheep or samsung sheep. My device is supposed to work for me.If they asked me i'd gladly take the FM Radio over the TV remote feature.

Srinivas, 27 Sep 20134G services are already launched in some regions and under ... moreObviously WON'T. It doesn't have the necessary hardware.
But, don't worry about 4G, it's just a huge transfer rate that's not very usable, even, since you're not going to download nor upload large files over your LIMITED data plan.
LTE would matter more for users having an unlimited data plan. Even so, in 3.5G (H+) the download and upload speed rates are good enough in most parts of the world. H+ 6 to 11Mbit/sec and LTE +-35 to +50Mbit/sec You see? Only useful when downloading and uploading large files over an UNLIMITED DATA plan. Otherwise, LTE is a near a waste. Good if there's, ok if there isn't.
                                Realize that.

I'd worry more for the CPUs/SoCs comparison: Exynos + its GPU vs S800 + its GPU. But, if you're living where there's no LTE, from the carriers you're only going to get the N9000 which is the Exynos version one. The same is for my country; Peru.
An easier choice would be the Xperia Z1 or Z Ultra.

Please rate so people can see.

Samsung have confirmed that the regional restrictions will lift after first activation of a SIM from the correct region. After this the device can be used in any region.
