Michail, 16 August 2021

With last week’s Samsung Galaxy Unpacked in the books and the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 official, it’s time to turn our attention to the next crop of Samsung flagships – the Galaxy S22 series. The latest report comes from noted Samsung leakster Ice Universe and details the key hardware specs of the three S22 models. The overall design is said to be a slight evolution of the current Galaxy S21 look.

Starting with the display sizes, Samsung is expected to bring a 6.01-inch Galaxy S22 alongside a 6.55-inch Galaxy S22+ and a 6.81-inch Galaxy S22 Ultra model. For reference this year’s Galaxy S21 packs a 6.2-inch panel, the S21+ boasts a 6.7-inch diagonal while the S21 Ultra’s screen size stands at 6.8-inches.

All Galaxy S22 series phones are said to sport 120Hz refresh rates though the Ultra model will be the only one with QHD+ resolution and an LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) panel allowing for dynamic refresh rate alteration and in turn, improved battery life management.

If these rumors hold up, the vanilla Galaxy S22 would be the smallest Galaxy S device since 2019’s Galaxy S10e and a true compact flagship Samsung phone to rival the iPhone 12 mini.

Moving on to the camera department Galaxy S22 and S22+ are expected to share an all-new 50MP 1/1.55-inch main sensors alongside a 12MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and 12MP ultrawide cam. The S22 Ultra on the other hand is said to pack a 108MP main cam alongside three 12MP auxiliary sensors – a short telephoto with 3x optical zoom, a periscope with 10x optical zoom and an ultrawide snapper.

Battery capacities on the S22 and S22+ will be smaller compared to their predecessors at 3,800 mAh and 4,000 mAh while the S22 Ultra will retain a 5,000 mAh cell. No word on charging speeds yet.

Last but not least leakster @FrontTron shared info that Samsung will stick with Snapdragon 898 chipsets for most of its Galaxy S22 devices due to production issues and low yields of its in-house Exynos 2200 SoC.

I will take larger 6.81" display screen on the S22 Ultra as well and make any sharper and smoother display. Make it Upload and download speed at 3500Mbits/s and 7750Mbits/s.

1/1.55 50mp will be RGBW with 1.0um or 12.5mp 2.0um, 160-170% light gathering over the 12mp 1.8um, which I hope they use for the UW camera in the S22U, the 12mp 3x and 10x will hopefully be 1.22-1.4um. S22 3x should hopefully be 1.4um, no excuse not...

Gosh, true enough. I-phone designs are just too dated with that ugly notch, boxy icons, and no way to customise your homescreens.
