I used to have a Pixel 6 and totally understand the frustration — it overheated a lot, had weak battery life, and the connectivity was terrible, especially on Dialog. I switched to a Pixel 7 afterward. It’s definitely better in terms of heat — it doesn’t overheat with daily use, but still gets warm during heavy tasks. I’m not a heavy user, so the battery lasts a day for me.
Connectivity has improved compared to the Pixel 6, but still not perfect. Keep in mind that Pixel devices don’t officially support 5G in Sri Lanka yet, which might be a dealbreaker for some.
Also, there aren’t many local repair options for Pixel phones here, which is something to consider. If camera quality and a clean, simple OS are your top priorities, the Pixel is great. But in my opinion, Samsung phones are a safer all-round choice in Sri Lanka. More compatible with local networks. But i still go with pixel 🙂
Overall, I’d say go with Samsung if you want something more reliable and easier to live with day-to-day here. But if you value camera quality above everything and don’t mind the heating or slower charging, the Pixel still has its strengths.
Also, as far as know, the Snapdragon version of the S23 FE available in Sri Lanka.

Hi everyone 👋
I'm planning to buy a new phone in Sri Lanka (2025) in the $400–500 range(130000-160000 LKR), and I've narrowed it down to three main options:
Google Pixel 8a (Google Pixel 8a - Full phone specifications)
OnePlus 12R (OnePlus 12R - Full phone specifications)
Samsung Galaxy S23 FE (Samsung Galaxy S23 FE - Full phone specifications)
My top priorities (in order):
Camera (both photo & video quality – main + ultrawide + video stabilization)
Performance (smooth daily usage + good sustained performance without overheating)
Battery life and charging speed
Durability (glass protection, thermals, build quality)
Thermal control (no overheating, especially in SL climate)
Display quality
Connectivity (to local networks and WiFi)
Haptics & Sounds
Software support & stability
What I don’t want:
I used to own a Pixel 6 and had a really frustrating time with it,
- Overheating with basic usage
- Weak battery life
- Display lifespan is low
- Poor connectivity
- Throttled performance over time
I don’t want a repeat of that experience.
Based on reviews:
Pixel 8a has excellent cameras + 7 years of updates, but still has thermal throttling, very slow charging, and Gorilla Glass 3.
OnePlus 12R seems to offer the best performance, best battery life, and great durability (Gorilla Glass Victus 2), but the camera is just “good”, not great.
S23 FE has a good all-around camera setup with a real telephoto, Samsung features, and IP68, but it seems to throttle quickly, has weak battery life, and feels heavy.
Some concerns:
Which phone works best with local mobile networks (Dialog, Mobitel)?
Is the S23 FE Snapdragon version available in local stores?
How’s the after-sales service/repair for OnePlus and Pixel phones in Sri Lanka?
Any experience with durability and heating for these phones in our climate?
Would love to hear from anyone who owns or has used these phones long-term, especially in Sri Lanka. Which one would you pick in 2025, and why?
Thanks in advance 🙏

I am about to buy S23 F.E 8/256 Exynos version, Is it worth it? I am really worried about the battery performance. Read so many bad reviews about battery and performance. Currently, using Samsung A30 and will use my old phone for mostly heavy tasks. Also i have iphone 12 pro 128gb and iphone 13 128gb in mind as another option to buy. I am confused.

I got this phone (Exynos) about a year and a half ago, since I got it the battery life has been horrible, and it has just been getting worse. Only 3-4 hours of SOT per day and horrible performance. Only good thing about this phone is the camera. If anyone has any tips to improve the battery it would be appreciated🙏, this phone is a 2/10 defintely will not be getting another samsung any time soon...

Good performance overall, but the battery life is awful (especially after One UI 7 update). Even if you turn off 5G, adaptive refresh rate and keep the display at 10% brightness, it will still not last a full day of normal use. CPU/RAM combo is plenty fast for most people. Camera is okay but not great - my old Pixel 'a' series was far better. A decent package overall but not a good option for anyone needing good battery life.

Thanks to the GSM Arena site, I have been using the Samsung S23 FE since October 2024, and unfortunately, this phone is extremely poor and of poor quality in terms of charge retention. My previous phones were the Samsung S24 Ultra, S23 Ultra, and S21 FE and S21 ultra.
My previous phones, the S21F and S21 Ultra, were not as poor quality and bad in terms of battery life as the S23F. I think Samsung should reconsider using its own processors.
This phone is not at all of the quality and worthy of the Samsung S series name.

I'm sadly from the United States. It's funny how long it took Samsung to release the One UI 7 / Android 15 update, and now there's news on the horizon saying One UI 8 / Android 16 will be launched in July of 2025.
So, I went from Android 14, to 15 and very soon 16 in a matter of a few months. Way to go Samsung! (Not)
