I just confirmed from Samsung. S25 FE does have a hardware proximity sensor. However, fingerprint scanner is optical. Also, if you will check S24 FE official specs, it says "Virtual Proximity Sensing", while in S24, S25 and S25 FE specs, it says "Proximity Sensor".

Anonymous, 05 Sep 2025It doesn't say on Samsung's website. It just says... moreSaw the phone in store today, scanner is indeed optical.
If I was interested in it then that would make me happy, ultrasonic scanners work terrible for me (skin issues) while optical and physical ones work fine.
But at this point you would think they go ultrasonic, or at least put the scanner up higher like on the real S series, because with the S25 FE it is again very low on the bottom.

It's a great phone but the battery is just shy of 100 mah. Why does Samsung love small batteries?

Anonymous, 05 Sep 2025"Virtual proximity sensing" This is an almost ... moreIronically, Samsung's €100 phones have a proximity sensor, which makes no sense when this €650 phone does not.

Overpriced e waste, 8gb ram at this price is trash. Terrible cameras as well. L upgrade, either but last year's model or wait a few months for this to drop in price.

But I asked a Samsung agent and they said it was optical.
There are so few upgrades on this phone you can bet they would've advertised the ultrasonic fp sensor if it had one.

According to Samsung’s website:
1- Fingerprint scanner is ultrasonic
2- Proximity scanner is a Hardware proximity sensor. (Not “virtual Proximity Sensing”)
It also appears that wireless charging is 15W, not 25W.

"Virtual proximity sensing"
This is an almost 1,000 euro smartphone, not a 100 euro one.

AlienKiss, 05 Sep 2025I don't understand why would someone buy this instead ... moreIn the UK the S25 FE is now £614 with discounts for the 256GB variant. The S25+ 256GB is £999 at the moment, but even with discounts a few weeks ago it was £900. That's a big price difference. And they are almost the same, apart from some ultra demanding games or benchmarks you won't see the speed difference in real life, they are both very fast. Screen, cameras, battery are the same too. RAM is less, 8GB vs. 12GB, but that only counts if you want to run a lot of apps simultaneously which I don't. I'll tell my experience about it, I've ordered one from Samsung shop yesterday.

If there was ever a phone to test out the Exynos 2500 in. It would've been this one. But I guess that costs more to make than Exynos 2400. There's not even a ram upgrade compared to previous years model.
Very low effort money grab.
