Anonymous, 30 May 2014hey can anyone please tell me about the issues with this ph... moreHi,
I am using this phone from past one week. Till now haven't faced any issue. Its fast and works just fine with all its overloaded Touchwiz UI.
If you are upgrading from an S4 pls don't(I did and again feels I am having the same phone, faster & brighter but same..... :( ). If you are switching from any other mobile you will love it.
These are the upgrade from S4.
1. Beautiful & bright display(If you don't like over saturated colors you even have the options to change the display modes)
2. Superb camera, fast auto focus. You will get sharp & brilliant images & 4K video on top.
3. Water & Dust resistant( Which is more suitable for people like me who roam around outside a lot ).
4. Somewhat polished but still very heavy, overloaded UI (Setting Menu is really the worst I have ever came across even than the S4).
5. Finger print sensor & a Heart Rate Sensor(Not so useful but it works)
6. New Exynos 5 Octa 5422 processor(The Real octa core process this time)
7. Best thing about this Octa version is it performs really well and beats the Snapdragon version in lot of benchmarks and some functionality tests ( Reference from Youtube videos guys, no offense)
Cons:
1. Poor Sound quality ( even than S4)
2. I curse Samsung for their pricing strategy. Those people reduce the cost almost every month and people will regret buying the phones after couple of months for this reason(I bought it last week for 41k in India now its available for 37k. 4K reduced in a span of 7 days :-( ).
3. When compare to Snapdragon version the battery performance is 10%-20% less efficient.
Note: Please do not upgrade from S4. You wont feel a huge difference. please wait for couple of months if you are an S4 users you will get hell lot of options by that time.
PS: If Samsung don't change their ridiculous design and material used for their flagship mobiles I will be out of their customers list.

AnonD-149089, 26 May 2014Do you mean the octacore one is better than the quadcore in... moreYes, in some scenarios. For example, the octa core is more powerful and faster than snapdragon or quad core version.
4 cortex a15 + 4 cortex a7 cores give around 25% more power than krait 400 at 2.5 GHZ.
The octa also feels faster and is more smoother than the quad core.
The major advantage of octa is however the wolfson DAC (Dedicated audio chip ) which provides better sound experience than qualcomm DAC in quad core or snapdragon version.
The snapdragon version has it's advantages too. It has more battery life and it doesn't get as hot as exynos during intensive use. additionally, the qualcomm version has a better GPU so it'll perform better in gaming. It has 4G LTE too.
Both are great devices BTW.

antutu x benchmark is excellet ... moreES135, I actually asked the on screen time and not the actual time. To get the on screen time, go to settings> battery> and tap on the screen area. You'll get the time for which the screen was on.
Charge the phone to 100% and take it near 0 via heavy use. Tell me that time when the battery is near 0 in hrs and mins.
Please do it. It's very important for me.
Have a nice day

the battery is great moderate use last about 20 hrs
excessive use about 8 to 9 hours
performance is excellent also gaming performance
screen is the best till now on samsung devices
better optimising than previous S devices
overall is great phone
though I didnt try the snapdragon 801 version but it seems that in benchmarks the exynos is better

gaming performance is not overall. u can watch s5 reviews. here exynos is faster than snapdragon. in benchmark π........exynos takes half of calculation time of snapdragon. the user interface is more faster than snap dragon. yes i like snapdragon. I always wanted to get note 3 snapdragon but I wouldn't get it.
but u can see the improvation of exynos like a baby can walk now with his own leg. after that he'll want 2 run.
see ????

If yes, can you tell me how are you feeling about this phone in detail. There are no reviews on this phone. So I need a personal review. Please mention the following things:
screen
in hand feel and ease to use
Audio quality
Performance and if possible do benchmarks too( preferably geekbench 3, antutu, antutu x, quadrant, epic citadel at ultra high settings)
Gaming performance( any lag)
Heating problem( if any)
Battery life( tell me the on screen time from 100% to 1% from settings> battery> screen)
Thanks in advance.

Just turn power saving mode off, restart the phone, wait for the phone to cool down to the minimum temperature in an AC and do the benchmark again. Your score will go much higher.

AnonD-125400, 23 May 2014Mali t628 mp6 on s5 is overclocked than on the note 3 its a... moreFirstly, mali t628 in note 3 and s5 are the same at 533 MHz amd both have 102 GFLOPS. The s5 snapdragon is 166 GFLOPS.
The s5 has better drivers than note 3 for mali and that's the reason for the performance boost. The 60% more power is not almost equal.
Both these are extremely powerful GPUs Anyways. So you won't notice much difference and antutu 3D is a low level benchmark and I already said that mali will perform better when there is low triangle load and it performs better in antutu.
No benchmark is optimised for a GPU. They all have different triangle load and graphic intensity and hence GPUs perform different in these.
Lets take an example, take powervr 544MP3 used in s4 octa. It just has 51.1 GFLOPS. But it has a mind blowing fill rate and that helps us sail through all games. Lets take epic citadel at ultra high settings. It uses unreal engine which is used in most games so it's a fairly important benchmark.
The scores are:
Note 3 octa (102 GFLOPS): 41 fps
Note 3 snapdragon( 129 GFLOPS): 47fps
Galaxy s4 snapdragon( 86 GFLOPS ): 39 fps
Galaxy s4 exynos( 51.1 GFLOPS): 47.1 fps
Galaxy s5 exynos( 102 GFLOPS): 48 fps
Galaxy s5 snapdragon( 166 GFLOPS): 53 FPS
So the GFLOPS are just a measure of compute power and performance at higher triangle load that's only in high end benchmarks like gfxbench 3.0 manhattan. There aren't going to be games like that for another 5 years but in general use, mali seems weaker and slower than snapdragon in real life usage. I've seen it and felt it in asphalt 8 airborne.
If you want to look at GFLOPS, see this link. It may help:

Have a nice day.
