Anonymous, 09 Nov 2016Hello everyone, I was going to get myself an S5 G900H, i wa... moreYes it is still great because of its amazing features at such prices. The camera is extraordinary in bright lights, waterproof which increases its life by 50%, memory card support (128gb) which is again great. Nice display and lightweight too . The only problem which i face is single sim and no 4g support too. Anyways the pros knockout the cons so cannot complain much. You should totally buy it

After using Marshmallow for more than a month I'm ready to give a seasoned review. Battery life is the biggest concern for every smartphone user. Marshmallow does offer better battery life at least from my perspective. My S5 octa-core (G900H) is 2 years and 2 weeks old as of today. I am using the original battery that came with the phone and I'm still able to get a full day of fairly heavy usage before charging.
When I first installed Marshmallow, I would lose 1% of battery power after 2 minutes when browsing via Wi-Fi. However, I got to understand that the OS was studying my usage pattern and after a weel or so I saw improved battery life courtesy of the Doze Mode battery optimiser. After the OS and Doze Mode completed studying my usage pattern, I was able to access the Doze Mode feature once and for all after which I commanded Doze Mode to put ALL apps to stop running when the phone is sleeping. Only about two crucial apps cannot be put to sleep which is fine by me.
After Doze Mode was set up, in using Wi-Fi, battery now loses 1% of power usually after 5 minutes of browsing. Not bad for a 2 year old battery.
Now that the battery is out of the way I will talk about the other changes. Like I mentioned in my hands on review sometime ago, you have to input the password after a restart before you can use your fingerprint to unlock the phone. It seems annoying at first but eventually you get used to it.
The overall speed of the S5 is much faster (providing you did a factory reset and wipe system cache). The UI is clean and smoother. The lag I use to see in the CALL LOG is no longer there and bringing up the dialler is much faster (even faster than the iphone 6 as I tested against with my co-worker's iphone on Saturday). Marshmallow provides greater speed than KitKat and Lollipop.
My biggest gripe with Marshmallow is the way it handles the sending of e-mail. When an e-mail was sent previously you would see the word 'E-mail sent' in the status bar where the time time is shown right above the notification panel. Now you have to pull the notification panel down and if you are fast enough to pull it down before it is sent you will see E-mail sent in the notifications before it disappears one second after. If you look quick enough you may see an e-mail icon in the status bar with am arrow attached but that also disappears one second after. I send e-mails every day and the older method of seeing when mails were sent was useful. Nowadays I go to the sent folder more often to see if my mails were actually sent.
Other than the e-mail gripe I really don't have a problem with Marshmallow. I would recommend it to every S5 user.

My Review After Using MM Stock OS & Custom OS
I have my S5 G900H From the day it was launched, its 2 years now and its a good phone out in the market for those who wants more features like IR Blaster, and tons of sensors
In Stock MM rom with Some Bloatware apps removed i get around 12hrs charge on high usage. Stock kernel is the reason for device to heat up and lag
In my Custom OS Like " Wanted Rom v7.0 "-( Full S7Edge Port Rom ) From XDA Site,
I get a good Battery life of around 22 hrs on medium usage and 14 hrs on high usage
With Custom Kernel - " GreenApple Kernel v1.0 " This gives device a good battery backup and Lag free.
With Note 7 roms device is consuming more juice so S7edge port roms are good for s5 g900h as per my experiance
I recommend this device to the ones who wants more good features whic samsung removed in their newer devices
Its Still a good device and even after 2 years samsung still gives monthly updates to it
Now it has October 1 security patch on it.
Its cost is also cheaper now in sites like flipkart its sold for around 15k only
so its a affordable phone with some good specs.
Good luck

I am still using my S5 with stock KitKat because of the battery drain issues in Lollipop and Marshmallow. I have rooted my phone. But my concern is that even some small games like Riptide GP2 are lagging badly. Any way to resolve the lag in games? I think Mali T628-MP6 is really underpowered than Adreno 330 in Snapdragon 801 version S5
