@Android Man: The processor comes with a Heterogeneous Multi-Processing (HMP) solution, adaptive hibernation technology, and Mobile Image Compression (MIC). So it can run its 4+4 cores in any desired way. That would be even total 8 if required.

This is pathetic from Samsung I had a worst experience with s4 sold it immediately and shifted to HTC. The octa core processor for Asian market is not good Samsung is cheating the Indian customers will never buy a Samsung phone now onwards

Why ??? again and again samsung is releasing two different versions for its phones.. Why can't they release the same phone with same features worldwide.. Why this desrimination against asians... Lets we all decide not to buy this phone and teach samsung a lesson..they may be big.. but they can't play the games like this. Let this S5 show less than a million sales in asian countries.. let's all decide together.. samsung we don't want to be the second behind US and europe.. Either release the phone with the same specs or DON'T release the phone here..say no to Samsung. ..

It's not an Octa core and to prove this look at the CPU, It says Quad core. Samsung didn't announce that they have Octa core smartphones yet.

Any system has two devices for getting the jobs done. The CPU and GPU! The Exynos CPU incorporated in S5 is class leading undoubtedly! Now a chipset has some basic conditions set, it isn't like placing candles on a cake, NVIDIA or ADRENO cannot be incorporated with EXYNOS. Samsung strategy as any other OEM is to cut costs. Hence build a high end homebrew CPU (exynos is very capable CPU) and a capable GPU to balance best possible combination of POWER-Efficiency and performance.

For those whining or qualcomm aficionados have a qualcomm variant though running a 4-5 year old CPU architecture!Exynos' big-LITTLE architecture is the future of mobile computing. Mind It!

Sadly samsung marketing its not a octocore. its dual quad. if was ocotocore it would have a MTK8592 onboard with 8 cores, so why say ocotocore when it clearly is not.

Mali-T628 MP6 is substantially slower then the 578mhz Adreno 330 in the Snapdragon version. If you have a choice get the phone with the S801 not the octocore.

I wonder why Samsung devices could be that too EXPENSIVE? Is this mean that expensive gadgets are the excellent ones? Are there ways to remedy this thing? Phone features could only be good from 6mos to a year then again a new one will come out & prices depreciate. SGS5 should have included putting dual sims & radio in it's specs.

What he/she said about the Exynos disadvantage is not totally false, especially in custom rom. Samsung is known to not provide the sources of their home-brewed processor, and sources are important for developers to make such a compatible and stable custom rom.

Exynos new gen (Gen 5) Chipsets are more capable in thermal handling. They work full frequency unaffected by extreme temperature (wiki Dynamic frequency scaling (also known as CPU throttling)). Quoted(http://forum.beyond3d.com/show...mp;page=30):

"getting to my point I have saw the highest thermal handling on the latest Exynos 5 chipset vs any previous qualcomm offering. My qualcomm GS3 and a friends GS4 qualcomm destabilize on high mhz or even stock 1890 if over 90+c which unless I go beyond the power supply of the battery has not been true on this 5410.

Thus capable of playing extended sessions of high end gaming lagless and no hiccups!Consider the extreme temperatures we bear in Summers and Winters in South Asia! Exynos is for us!

Quoted from a educated poster at XDA-Developer:

All of Qualcomm's chips through S-800 are based on five year old ARM designs. A lot has changed in five years. So while it's less "safe," I'd pick big.LITTLE over an existing Qualcomm chip solely because it represents the future. And in being the first to release it, Samsung's going to devote a lot of attention to perfecting it. As will the other 17 licensees. S-600 is what it is and its day in the sun will be brief.

There are three ways of transferring load from LITTLE (low frequency CPUs) to BIG,

                                    1. Cluster-migration: 4 A7 or 4 A15 and not any other combinations.
                                    2. Core-migration: Up to 4 cores working together with every combination possible.
                                    3. Multi-Processing: All 8 cores can work together.

and samsung has categorically stated that the new implementation in S5 has the Core-migration variant working perfectly well!Multi-core processing is not feasible in mobile devices owing to excessive battery drain
