Samsung Galaxy S5 mini to get Android 5.0.1 Lollipop soon

17 May, 2015

Samsung has been rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop based firmware update for its Galaxy lineup of smartphones since early this year. Obviously the premium and high-end handsets were a priority but the other younger kins are not left out.

Earlier we reported that the Galaxy S5 mini (SM-G800) will get the Lollipop update in second quarter but there was no sight of the update yet. Now Samsung Denmark has listed that Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update for the Galaxy S5 mini is about to start seeding. The S5 mini is a watered down version of the Galaxy S5 and currently runs the Android 4.4.2 Kitkat.

The TouchWiz UX wrapping the Lollipop update will bring the 64-bit ART runtime as well as the Material Design UI with new Quick Settings and Recent Apps menu. There's also Project Volta for improved battery life.

Based on this listing, we expect to see the update seeding to Galaxy S5 mini before the end of this month.
