i'm really ok with the tablet not able to make calls, it can send sms/mms and i think that's good enough, i can go online using packet data connection GPRS/EDGE/3G, and i think the tab is LTE ready, not sure about this.
the sd card slot issue... well, i'm planning to buy a samsung usb adaptor that can be used to connect memory storage peripherals, if in case i bloated the 16Gigabytes capacity.
i think this tablet looks prettier than the ipad, it's thin, light, just the right sized tablet for me. the screen resolution is so crisp i can read the tiniest letters.

just got mine, it was offered thru installment by a samsung appliance dealer, couldn't let the opportunity pass. the device is a delight to hold and behold. i'm posting this comment using my brand new samsung galaxy tab 8.9. so far so good!

Does the tablet nee... moreTo Art, we just download the dialler apps called Tablet Calling and which you could find other similar but so far we only tried this apps. Its works like regular phone. For info our we buy in panama which is wifi w/ 3G and we are using it Costa Rican local Sim Cardon 3G network..

1-Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE (call & 3g & wifi)
2-Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 3G (3g & wifi)maybe with call
3-Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 (wifi only)
correct me if i was wrong.. :)

looking at most of the comments it is about the gsm calling capabilities of this device.
after checking the samsung web site I found that the 8.9 comes in different models, if you are interested in making calls then look for model SGH-1957
by the way different markets around the world may have different specs .... salam

In brunei the seller said cannot make call and the seller said if u want to make call u have to jailbreak first. Im so confused. I dnt know whos right. So u tab can make call already? hi iam from Malaysia, i was asking at the shop, this device can make call.. and, the dealer give me infomation, until now, (29.11.11) NO ONE tablet 10.1 inch above, is cannot make a call..
he also said this tablet can make a call and sms + wifi + 3g..
If the seller is Lying, I also was Lying to your all..
