8gb ram version is good and smooth enough. If you got 4gb ram, I'm sorry for you - better don't ever update the tablet at all because system will eat up more than 3gb of your ram.
I'm using only VLC Samsung System Video Player and SVP Video Player,SVP Video Player TV Edition and mpv Video Player.
I download a jellyfish video sample to test, 1080p hevc 10bit, playback appears smooth but take note that it was just a 10 sec video
I use Next Player and VLC for the video apps
