It's an entry level tablet which means it doesn't have high specs. The worst thing about it is the internal storage. 8 GB is terribly low. You can't possibly install enough apps. Even OfficeSuite app doesn't work properly. And also Facebook app isn't good to install. Only Facebook Lite works.
As for me, this one is only good if you want to use DTP apps, especially when you want to type. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it.

Got this model SM-T285YD, sent by my aunt from Taiwan and it is launched there as Tab J. Same specs as the J MAX. I got 2 of them and both have annoying backlight bleed. The gold one I got has the worst. The UI is not so smooth compared to my Asus Budget Phone (ZB551KL). The Camera is good.. tho 8MP, better color reproduction than my Asus. The security Patch is still October 2016 and I believe will not be updated anymore. My asus got updated to MAY 2017 patch considering this was release MAY last year. The SD 400 of my asus is faster and can playback 1080p 60FPS while this model can NOT playback 60FPS video smoothly. The screen quality is nice tho. Way better than the TFT of my ASUS. Good for Media consumption (Movies, TV shows, Youtube). Music? my ASUS is way better, Thanks to it's audio manager. This Tab has NO built in music player. (Not sure about the J Max) The 8GB will hinder you if you install a lot of apps. Just make sure to monitor your storage and remove obsolete files.
