I've had this tablet since launch. The screen is a little toasty due to screen burn-in inherent to AMOLED displays. But it's still a good screen that can compare to some of the 2022 tablets.
It's slow, but still usable, and I've been using it to read ebooks, documents, pdfs, manga, comics, etc. and watch films & videos.
Might try to use LineageOS, but honestly I don't need to yet based on my use case.

You can download android oreo (8.0) for this tablet using Lineage 15. Some people have managed to create a Pie build!

It's my device for spoken books and surfing and more since 7 years.
I'm not sure if a real successor is around.
I use LineageOS 14.1-unofficial since years (Android 7.1.2)
Latest version from 01.01.2021 (https://download.exynos5420.com/LineageOS-14.1-Deathly/chagalllte/) and tracking dev at https://review.lineageos.org/q/project:LineageOS/android_build+branch:cm-14.1+
It's still a perfect device.

I've had this tablet since they were available. It has tolerated six years of abuse, hard handling and very, very much use. I travel a lot and all my books and films go with me and I watch all my news with this tablet.
When this unit gives up the ghost, I'll be sure to replace it with another Samsung. That just might be quite far in the future.
