Samsung really is a great company for our digital needs. But, does this budget android phone is worth your money?
We will be comparing another android phone that is also a budget phone. It is called "Zenfone 4" that is almost of in the same price.
Note: I am not discouraging you to buy this product but please, take a look in the specifications first before you buy.
Let me start from the specifications:
1. DISPLAY
Samsung Galaxy V: TFT capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors | 480 x 800 pixels, 4.0 inches (~233 ppi pixel density)
ASUS Zenfone 4: TFT capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors | 480 x 800 pixels, 4.0 inches (~233 ppi pixel density) | Corning Gorilla Glass 3
My Review: Samsung Galaxy V and ASUS Zenfone 4 have the same pixels, and pixel density (which is good for a budget phone) But, notice the "Corning Gorilla Glass 3 of Zenfone?" -This is an advantage for some users to not worry about the oh-i-dont-want-to-scratch-my-screen. So in this case, the best display goes to ASUS Zenfone 4.
2. MEMORY (Card Slot | Internal | RAM)
Samsung Galaxy V: Card Slot is microSD, up to 64 GB and internal memory is 4 GB, plus 512 MB RAM
ASUS Zenfone 4: Card Slot is microSD, up to 64 GB and internal memory is 4/8 GB, plus 1 GB RAM
My Review: Oh wait! Users should know that the higher the RAM, the more it can handle simultaneous applications so you can seamlessly multi-task without any performance issues. Samsung Galaxy V has 512 MB of RAM, while ASUS Zenfone 4 has a 1 GB of RAM. The Zenfone has the higher RAM storage so it can handle simultaneous applications in the same time while providing the user an experience of smooth multi-tasking. So, the best RAM goes to ASUS Zenfone 4!
3. Operating System
Samsung Galaxy V: Android OS, v4.4.2 (KitKat)
ASUS Zenfone 4: Android OS, v4.3 (Jelly Bean), upgradable to v4.4.2 (KitKat)
My Review: Uggggh, not much but the more updated the operating system, then the more feautures it has! (Also depends if the company has brought some changes to the stock android operating system like theming it or customizing the theme and tuning up the performance. The Samsung have the TouchWiz UI, and the ASUS have the ZenUI)
4. CPU
Samsung Galaxy V: 1.2 GHz (Single Core)
ASUS Zenfone 4: Intel Atom Z2520, Dual-core 1.2 GHz
My Review: They said that a processor having multicores have greater calculation speed and performance increase noticeable in the device. Take a look at the Samsung Galaxy V CPU, hey its a single core 1.2 GHz. While the ASUS Zenfone 5 is equipped with Intel Atom 1.2 GHz, but the big difference is it is dual core and it can hyperthread. As what I said earlier, the more the cores and the higher the GHz, much more will be the performance and response of the device. It basically is faster. So, in terms of CPU, the Zenfone 4 has got what it takes for performance.
5. SENSORS
Samsung Galaxy V: Accelometer
ASUS Zenfone 4: Accelerometer, Proximity
My Review: Wait, what? Samsung doesn't have a proximity sensor? Oh, might be as well a huge battery consumer when taking a phone call.
6. CAMERA
Samsung Galaxy V: Primary (3.15 MP, 2048 x 1536 pixels, LED flash) | Secondary (VGA) | Video (480p@24fps)
ASUS Zenfone 4: Primary (5 MP, 2592 х 1944 pixels, autofocus) | Secondary (MP Not Recognized on gsmarena) | (Video) 1080p@30fps
My Review: The higher the MP, the greater the camera resolution. However, it depends on what kind of lenses they put on to the device. You can search on google for the camera samples and decide for your self. By the way, the ASUS Zenfone 4's Primary camera is 5MP, while the Samsung has only 3.15MP, which is in terms of resolution, the ZENFONE sits in the throne. The zenfone also has also the autofocus type of camera which is very great for selecting which subject will be your focus.
7. BATTERY
Samsung Galaxy V: Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery | Talk Time (2G) / Up to 8 h (3G) |
ASUS Zenfone 4: Li-Po 1200/1600 mAh battery | Standby Time (Up to 192 h) | Talk Time (Up to 10 h)
My Review: The higher the mAh, the longer the battery before it runs out. Talk time seems to be much longer on ASUS Zenfone 4. So the zenfone sits on the throne!
NOTE: Based from the review above, it will be your decision and not mine to make. Go for the one who will satisfy your needs :) God bless!
