No. You can make google messages the default messaging app on both your phone and watch

Why?? I am rarely looking at my watch. It makes no sense to have the display on for 99% of the time. The time when it isn't being looked at. It would make about as much sense as using an always on display on a cell phone. It's in my pocket ...
