Never buy this phone. It suddenly get stuck always for few minutes, the displays a message mentioning that the SD card was removed unexpectedly. If you use the WCDMA mode, and while taking a phone call it suddenly mutes your mic, so that the other party can not hear you. You have to cut the phone call and dial again. Sometimes the phone seems to be okey, but anyone else can not call you. What they are told is that my phone is switched off. Even I can't connect my phone with a land phone, until I restart my phone. Samsung must stop proceeding with this useless unstable smart phone issuing swarm. It's better to produce one steady phone than issuing thousands of unstable phones killing own brand name. I used one Nokia N73 and it never gave me such headaches ever. I am thinking of going for a Nokia again. The interest I had on Android was gone, because of this phone. So never buy Samsung Galaxy young. It needs to be renamed as Samsung Galaxy Wreck!!

I've been using Galaxy Y for 4 months now. The phone is not bad for a cheap Android phone. It's a bit slow when you switch on but thereafter it picks up well. Camera quality is good for 2MP as is the music player. The speaker volume could have been better but the headphone quality is really good. However, battery back up isn't good. If you're someone who browses internet on phone, be prepared to charge your phone every 3-4 hours. Also, the Android version is a bit outdated and you'll find that a lot of features on Android Market (Google Play) will be unsupported by the phone (eg: Google Chrome Mobile Browser, Adobe Flash Player etc.) It can get a bit scratchy while trying to open large programs like games.
Overall, it is a decent phone at a cheap price if you're willing to make a few compromises. Don't expect to experience the best of Android. Galaxy Y barely manages to scratch the surface of huge potential of Android OS. If you can afford it, go for a more advanced version of Android.

As an owner of this phone for a month, I must say I'm impressed. This is my first Android phone, and hearing about all the lagginess (and seeing in some earlier droids) made me skeptical as to whether I should get it, because it's an entry-level device and has a single core 832Mhz processor. It runs very smooth, I should note that 'Animations' are turned off in settings, but aside from the 320x240 resolution and some random force closes (only a handful), I've had no issues with it. Samsung has done quite well with this device for people on budgets/people who don't need much out of an Android phone. Considering it's sold all over where I am currently, Saudi Arabia, I'd consider the Galaxy Y to be the poster-boy of entry-level Android devices.
