You pay more for more RAM, then they make the extra RAM useless by auto-hibernating apps.

justasmile, 07 Oct 2023I'm very sure that your 12gb ram (or whatever is more ... more8gb ram is beyond a joke, out off that 3gb ram is taken by android OS, every app that you open and run takes 300mb ram, having opened 8 apps has taken 3gb ram. Why is it bothering you having 24Gb Ram since ram is so cheap, you're not putting petrol which cost yiu money or tge phone does not weight at 5kg , why you making big issue, thts like saying you can't have more than £1000 off saving or have 4 bedroom house you're nagging on
First of all, Random Access Memory works differently for Windows and other platforms. Let us just get that out of the hair first. For windows, the more free RAM you have, the more responsive that system is. That is just the short version. Windows desktop is programmed like that and many are used to it. So with that knowledge when you take an android phone in to consideration, you might think: “Well, this phone has only 3 GB Memory and I do not think that this is good enough but looks at that phone. It has 100 GB of RAM. It must be plowing through all the tasks that are thrown at it”. Right?………….. WRONG! See, Android O.S is written based off a Linux Kernel. The way that it is set up is to stuff up as many recently opened applications in to the RAM as possible and leave just enough memory for any other uses such as loading other apps, games etc. The number of apps that you can store in the memory of an android phone is what the amount of RAM can tell you, roughly speaking. Your phone will be more responsive if you are accessing apps that are already in the RAM of your phone. If you are opening something that is not in the RAM of your phone, then android has memory management features(far better now than what it used to be before) that will kill the apps that you don’t need right now and then make space to load the apps that you need right now. One more thing is also about the type of RAM that you use, its frequency and all but people seem to be oblivious to those aspects and only seem to concentrate on just the amount of RAM they have. Many will have heard the quote in Linux community that “Unused RAM is wasted RAM”.
Sadly that’s not the case with Windows though. For that, the more RAM you have the better.
Point is that Right now, if you buy a phone with say top end specs that anyone can offer. Let us take the example of something like Note 9 or even Galaxy S9+,S9 from Samsung that runs on Snapdragon 845 or Exynos SoC and have almost the same configurations throughout except for tweaks in some parts such as camera setup and some additional features that are really there to just market these things that are mostly the same.(It is absolutely ridiculous, the things that these companies say about how ridiculously different these models are but if you know your way around gadgets and software that it runs on, then you won’t have any difficulty in knowing that they are just trying to bullshit their way and trying their best to make you buy their products that are mostly similar in all aspects.

This phone is absolutely amazing, but there's a few turnoffs.
1. The main screen is very soft/sensitive, and can be damaged by just being in your pockets
2. The battery life isn't too great, and will rarely last all day
3. The phone gets suspiciously warm, especially when gaming
4. It has no dust resistance, and I wouldn't trust the water resistance personally
5. The cost to repair is astronomical, considering the circumstances
6. The camera is mediocre at best, and the only thing that makes the photos presentable is the Samsung AI
7. The outside display is great, but you need to download a special app, to use more than two-three apps on the outside display.
Ignoring all these negatives, the phone is really good, and it's very comfortable to carry.
The design is that of luxury, and the colors absolutely pop out, especially if you're caseless.
The phone is also very fast, and the 120hz AMOLED display looks incredible.
Overall, it's a very good phone, but if you're worried about durability, or thermals, I'd go for the S23 Ultra instead, since it's practically the same price, as the Z Flip 5.

Got this device and its great. had the fold before but found i was using the cover screen more than opening it which defeated the purpose. this phone feels good and is easy to handle. only update it would make is making it a little wider. if it was the size of an s23 ultra and flipped, it would be perf.

DarlingYext, 06 Aug 2023"The only thing better on the Razr 40 Ultra (Razr Plus... moreI love my Flip 5. To answer some of your questions. No, I wouldn't take the Flip 5 anywhere near the water. On my beach vacation I left it locked in the safe. It's just a little comforting to know that if my Flip 5 was accidentally exposed to water it would probably be OK. The five years of security updates sure do matter! A lot of phones last longer than 3 years. My wife still uses a Note 9 and I have a Moto One Play(?) from many years ago that works just fine and battery life is still good. I took it with me on a river trip and left my S23 home. I used it sparingly because it was old and I didn't want to get hacked, but the phone itself was fine.

I am so disappointed in this phone. I had it for 15 days when the screen started to flicker. First the green line appeared on the screen and then the screen started flickering when opened.
So frustrating. I took it to the samsung service where I was told that I will get a new phone. After 20 days of waiting they told me that I will not be getting a new phone but a screen replacement. I am still waiting and no phone. I do not recommend anyone to buy this phone. Such a shame.

This phone is absolutely awesome. The build quality is insane and it's so convenient to have such a small phone. It feels more like a piece of jewellery than a smartphone. The only weak point I would say is the limited charging speed, but i've found the autonomy to be absolutely fine for my use.
