Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 to get Fold SE's displays, Flip7 panels will also grow

Samsung's 2025 foldables are getting new larger screens. The information comes from Ross Young, a consultant within the display supply chain industry.

The source claimed Galaxy Z Fold7 will get the Galaxy Fold Special Edition panels – an 8" foldable screen and a 6.5" panel on the cover. The clamshell Galaxy Z Flip7 is also up for increase across the board – a 6.85" foldable (up from 6.7") and a 4" cover (up from 3.4") displays.

The information comes as a follow-up of an analysis revealing Samsung saw a slower-than-expected sales of the Flip6 during Q3 2024. Panel shipments are 10% lower than last year, as the product failed to gain attention from users in the United States and China – the Flip remains popular mainly in Europe and Korea.

The decline in shipments is not unique to Samsung – Huawei also ordered fewer panels for its foldable phones between July and September, but that's for another reason – the company is introducing its new phones later in the year. The Mate X6 was launched in China last week and is going global on December 12.

According to DSCC, the foldable panel market might slow down in 2025 but this isn't necessarily bad. It is expected to gain track again in 2026 after Apple launches its first foldable smartphone – it will generate "significant growth" for the foldable market. As a result, the whole year is expected to be a record-breaking year for the segment.

Apple did sell the 12 and 13 mini, but they discontinued it because practically no one bought it. So that tells you all you need to know about the market for smaller phones.

Why can't they make Flip even smaller? If we want small phones, we are okay if it reaches to S24 size when it's flipped on. It doesn't have to match to screen size of Ultra models
