Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition sells out for the third time
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition went on sale in late October and sold out in 10 minutes. Samsung released another batch and it sold out in 5 minutes. The company just put out the third batch and it went just as quickly – all units were bought up in just 6 minutes.
This is despite Samsung producing a larger quantity of Z Fold Special phones for the third batch than the first two, reports Korean publication Newsis. However, the number of units that were in each batch is kept a secret.
The Special Edition is still only available in South Korea, though the Chinese market got the Samsung W25, which is the Special Edition with some (mostly cosmetic) alterations. The W25 (and the W25 Flip, which is based on the Galaxy Z Flip6) went on pre-order in China last week and will go on open sale on November 15 (this Friday). We doubt that we will get concrete numbers when it comes to units sold with the W-phones either.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition is thinner (10.6mm folded vs. 12.1mm) than the Z Fold6 while having larger screens (8.0” inner, 6.5” cover vs. 7.6” inner, 6.3” cover). It also brings a 200MP main camera, plus Wi-Fi 7 connectivity, but it does lose S Pen support.
For now, there is no indication that Samsung will offer the Z Fold Special Edition (or something like it) in other markets and the more time goes by, the closer the Z Fold7 launch gets (which will, presumably, also have a slender design).
