In the last few months I have had 6 different phones, all touchscreen and from all biggest manufacturers. I think that Samsung I5700 Spica is superlative in almost every aspect. It has one of the best touchscreen that I have ever used, in comparisement to Nokia 5800 that I owned for a couple of months, it is SOOOOO much better. I cant wait for the new firmware, that will make it even better. I strongly advise this phone to everyone that is interested in buying an Android phone. I never thought that I would love a Samsung phone that much. Nice job Samsung.

            Android OS 2.1 : Yes
            Android OS 1.5/1.6 : No

What do you mean set the network to '3G only'?
Are you saying that using the handphone as per normal, like talking and sms, not emailing, surfing the web or going to the Android marketplace so as to not touching the network data uasge in order not to pay out? The answer is NO. There are some google software that run in the background require "access" to the internet. At this moment, I do not think there is any software that can lock the network to '3G only without data access'. However, the data usage for these software will be less than 20KB per day. It all depends.

There is another way going to the internet without paying your service provider.
            Using WiFi.
            This phone is WiFi enable.

            How to enable/disable GPS, WiFi.
There is a shortcut on the Spica's homescreen call 'Switchers' (red button). Touch this red button icon. It will give you 4 choices: GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth and Autosync. You can enable only one, or all of them.
One thing to remember, GPS and WiFi will drain your battery quicker, especially GPS.

Guy, cheer up! Let's pull out the SIM Card(to play safe) and play around with this 800Mhz smartphone with WiFi enable so as to familiar it with ourselves.

            Let the fun begin!!!

teja j, 15 Mar 2010i believe we have free applications for tht??Touch the market icon to get to the android market place, which is listed inside the application tab (the circle with a small triangle inside). There is a lot of free software to choose from. But, your service provider will charge you on the data usage. This phone is java enable, no problem for your dictionary.
One thing you need to beware is that the internal memory which is the storage, is only around 160MB left. So, you cannot keep on installing without uninstalling in order to recover enough storage space. We can only hope that google will change its mind to let us install on the SD Card.
                    Have a nice day!
