There is nothing like "forever". At worst, you can damage you ROM chip if something goes wrong. But ROMs as well can be replaced at the service centre.

Further, there are lots of lots apps which can be installed through sdcard. Search some torrent sites, they have lots of torrents having tons of apps.

khalid, 03 Mar 2010btw whts the link for android market may b m not opening th... moreIts not an URL, its an proper application which comes pre-installed with i5700. Look for an green icon app named "Market" on your home screen or under your main menu. If you don't anyhow find it, your phone probably doesn't come pre-installed with it. In that case please follow my previous post.

To install apps from ur sdcard, you do need some file explorer in the first place. And to install it you obviously need to go to the android market and search for some free one right? So, "Astro" and "FSExplorer" are few of those and are free. Just search those at the android market and install one of them. Alternatively if you are having trouble installing from android market, you can use "adb" to install apps directly from your PC... to know how follow my blog here http://voxigee.wordpress.com/2010/02/28/using-adb-to-install-applications/
About app resources other than the market, http://en.softonic.com/phones/os-android is one of them. There are dozens more, just google for 'em...
