The solution is to install an application called "CoolS" from the Market. It automatically reduces the processor speed after screen lock.

This phone costs around £229 in the UK, why didn't Samsung put a fm radio like all their other phones?

Ganesh, 05 Aug 2010Hey! Still testing is going on for I9000 Galaxy S. I believ... moreI9000 will get official Froyo update from Samsung. I5700 will work great with Froyo because it uses less resources, event better than with Eclair, thanks to the JIT engine.
The problem is that it won`t be getting the update oficially, people are working on porting Froyo to the I5700. Check out samdroid.net and LeshaK`s work.

The I5700 Spica is NOT the New Galaxy S with 1,000 Mhz CPU.

My first mobile phone. Modded mine on the 3rd day. Bought it in Thailand (unlocked. Now has Android 2.1, Wifi Tether, Rooted, Thai Fonts, Thai Keyboard.

Fist step is to use odin multidownloader, and get comfortable using the 3 buttons to put the mode into 'download mode'.

Install a firmware of your choice with the features you want. I had a couple ones that did'nt work before I found a good one. http://www.thaigoodpost.com/archives/232

2nd was to install a wifi tether wich works great by the way, better then I imagined. http://forum.samdroid.net/f9/lk2-08-original-firmwares-root-new-superuser-wifi-tether-bb-12-07-2010-a-1193/?pagenumber=

Then the Thai fonts here- http://nexusonehacks.net/android-hacks/droid-hack-how-to-install-thai-font-on-droid/

I wish this phones Bluetooth was a little better, also after all the modding the Google Translate fonts, the phonetic ones are missing. Other then that I am very very impressed!

Anonymous, 05 Aug 2010can I upgrade 2.2 froyo? ??? Hey! Still testing is going on for I9000 Galaxy S. I believe even if its possible to install on this, it will be slow in performance. I9000 will be good for 2.2, it's having 1 GHz processor. But still you have to wait for installing.

To export contacts your 2.1 have an inbuilt feature to import or export which exports to VCF file.
For SMS download SMS backup and Restore application from market which will export all your messages into XML file.
Really when we are using best OS in mobile we don't need another system to override us :)
Let me know if this is not helping you.
