can anybody tell me how to activate the gps,mine hasnt been activated yet, i went to a samsung outlet last time but they dont even know how,and is it possible for me to install antivirus here,which one would you recommend? And how about yahoo messenger for phone is it possible also?

i'm facing problem synchronize my contact & appointment in outlook. not even only contact (about 1000 entries). it show the message "There is not enough free memory on your devise to synchronize information, close programs that running to free up memory, or restart the device". just got it less that a week not even install any program inside. can somebody have across this problem share with me the solution. Thanks!

Miz, 13 Aug 2008my gps is not working,how to enable gps and works ,i use go... morealmost forgot. you do realize that google maps will not work without the internet connection (gprs, umts....or wireless network)since it's downloading data directly from the server. Regards!

If you enable Enhanced gps (a-gps) and start Google maps and also have the network connection then just click use gps in Google Maps and in about 20 secs if you are under clear sky you should get at least 4-5 satellites (sometimes even 9). If that doesn't work you have a faulty unit. If you use Garmin XT and start it in about 5 minutes (without a-gps) you should also get a lock on the satellites (with a-gps) in a minute or two. I Use these 2 progs and it works like a charm. Please try and report back. Regards!

Fully charged with medium usage (wifi, sms,e-mail, 30-50 calls, a bit of gps) it should last about 2 days. All the settings should be on power save ofcourse which means, turning the screen off when not used, auto-turn off screen between calls, low to medium brightness settings etc. If you are really a heavy user and are using wi-fi, bluetooth, gps and make 100 calls per day then the unit will not survive 24 hours (with bt or gps on it won't last 2 hours) otherwise it should like i wrote (to me it lasts for 4-5 days sometimes if my girlfriends are not out of town hehe). But maybe the device is not working properly. Try the settings and report back. Regards!

The features on this phone is great. Just the battery life is not so good. Has anyone got any solution to this.

I've been using touch-screen devices for five years now and this device is definitely the least sensitive of all the devices I've owned, and I've run the gauntlet from Palm to Ericsson to assorted HTC and HTC-related phones to the iPod offerings.
And without a doubt this screen is the least responsive of all of them. You do get used to it -- the first week I had this phone I was cursing and using the mouse because I felt the screen wasn't responding enough to my pokes. Nowadays it feels more natural, but I still have an iPod Touch that I use side-by-side this phone so I never quite forget that its touchscreen is the worst I've ever had.

This phone is excellent. It is still not perfect -- my nitpicks with it are:
1. proprietary USB/earphone port -- always a headache
2. touchscreen is not as responsive as other phones/PDAs I have had like the iPod Touch, HTC Touch, Atom Exec, HTC Universal, etc.
3. Screen is on the smallish side and has a weird resolution that doesn't work with some programs and games
4. QWERTY keypad is nowhere as good as the Moto Q's, or even just the Treos or its own predecessor the Blackjack/i600. Too stiff and hard, like the touchscreen it feels like you have to exert too much effort to do something that is supposed to be effortless.
5. Picky with Bluetooth headsets and will not activate MS Voice Command from the headset.
6. The telescopic stylus sucks.
Other than that the phone is superb. The features are top notch, especially for the low, low price the phone goes for. I mean where else can you find HSDPA, GPS, a 600mhz processor and a QWERTY keyboard for just around $400US? It's like Samsung is giving these babies away.
The looks are a matter of taste but I find them very classy and even snobbish. Not the prettiest phone but still very handsome.
The battery life is unbelievably good, the best I have had for a PocketPC/PDA Phone. It can last me 3 days easily and still leave me with 25% battery, and I use my phone rather heavily for calls, SMS, PIM, WiFi Surfing, 3G, Bluetooth and playing music. With all my other phones on that kind of usage, I usually charge every day, end of the day I am left with a little less than 50%. I do not understand why so many people are having battery problems, are they conditioned to think that Samsung has poor battery life?
The stylus as I mentionedis crap, but it's not that big a deal because I almost never use it. You can do everything you need to do on this phone with just your fingertips, fingernails and the QWERTY keyboard. Or you can use that fangled mouse thing which I don't like (what's the point you have a touchscreen) but it's another option.
All in all a great phone.

Once it froze big time so that i had to remove the battery but booted up immediately when i pressed the power button. This is quite a good score for windows - i would check if you don't have any risky programs on it - or maybe have checked and replaced. Best regards!

Hi i installed the spb mobile shell but it seems that now my ringtone doesnt work. I cant hear anything when ppl call me. can anyone advise me on how to correct this? thanx.

my Samsung i780 freezes every now and then...
also, if I take battery out when it freezes, it doesn't turn on anymore...
anyone else encouter the same problem??

Have had my phone now for a week.
GPS works fine. mouse works excellent and yes it is one-hand friendly. Touch screen is sensitive and works really well. Only battle to forward a sms. How do you do that? Also could not install as it requires VISTA

This is my first touch device but i don't have the feeling you have to really press it hard - i just use normal touch. I tried HTC and it works similar - but maybe if you're used to softer devices it could be a problem. BR

Almost no freezes (world record for a windows based device) especially no problems during sending and receiving e-mails and sms. I suggest that you take it back - could be that it's a faulty unit! BR
