I am advising as in my opinion, samsung did not deliver what they have advertised and you will have to put up with the arrogance of their Plaza Singapura technicians. Why paid and look for all these unhappiness? Anyway I have lodged a complain to CASE and this will cost money as well. So ponder no more and get the Iphone.

Thanks for your story. I'm sorry u went through all that. I sent mine back to Singapore for repairs. When I got mine back, it was updated to firmware: I8520DXJH1. All seems good so far, but I do have crashes once in awhile. I still have not used the "lock pattern" yet on the fear of it might "freeze" on the Android screen again. Has anyone used the "lock pattern" with the new firmware?

can somebody honestly tell me if the Beam is worth all the hassle, because I am seriously considering cancelling my order for one.
I don,t want to buy a phone that constantly keeps breaking down, I,d rather go for the iphone4 which seems more reliable.
Someone make my mind up, please.

I've been in & out of the Plaza Service Centre at least 5 times !
Let's give them a few more days to fix it.
If not, then we can think of further action.

Really like this phone but i think SAMSUNG didn't test it throughly before they release into the market.
I have a SAMSUNG Galaxy S too..it too has some issue but not as bad as the SAMSUNG BEAM.

I have bought this phone on 30 Jul 2010. Since then, I have visited the Samsung service center 4 times in less than a month. The issue are as follow.
the first 2 vists are to refresh the software to overcome the "hanging issue at andriod Screen". The 3rd visit, I was there to "upgrade" the software to rectify the hang at andriod screen issue. However, after installing the upgrade. The GPS, Samsung Apps could not be run. When using Samsung Apps, the message "no updates" will be shown.
Another issue that user may experience is when usig Samsung Kies to convert video to MP4, if user try to play the video on the Galaxy Beam, the message the file format is not supported.
I've sent the phone to the customer service again on the 24th Aug 2010 to report the issues and left the set there for checkup. On 27th August, I was told to collect the phone only to realise that the technician has reinstalled the software again, wiping out all the installed applications but leaving the problem unresolved.
When questioning the counter staff and the technician, they simply told me that the Samsung Apps is not available on Galaxy Beam. However, when I questioned that when I first bought the phone, I could access the Samsung Apps. They further replied that "Maybe" they have removed the function. Upon questioning on the MP4 issue. They replied that I should use another converter.
I am very dissatisfied with such unprofessionalism and lack of competency, that I have refushed to sign on the service chit to "certify that the repair was done to my satisfaction". I think we, the Galaxy beam users have suffered enough inconvenience already. I am going to request CASE to pursue the matter with Samsung for launching such products that are no operationally ready, and also for misrepresenting that Samsung Apps/ Andriod Market is available as a valid feature on their product flyers.

Since i've got it in JULY, it's been giving me problems.
I've changed the sets twice.
First, is the "hang" problem.
You can't turn ON the phone if you turn it OFF. The Service Centre has to load/reset it. SAMSUNG knows about this issue.
After samsung service centre ( only a week back ) release the "patch", it didn't have the "hang" problem BUT now, android app seems to be "crashing".
Can't play video unless i end task the video player.
Clock app will "crashed" too...
If you want to buy it, i think you have to wait for samsung to release a STABLE phone.

ah.ok is good to choose samsung galaxy beam because this is first mobile brand has projector... but the price is over.. last july 17, 2010 gsmarena will announced the official price of samsung beam is $400. why phillipines samsung store not yet released samsung galaxy beam? 29,990 is over pricing the planet store.. is only $400 big differences the dollar priced and peso price... my budget to this unit is 22-23k only.. not 29,990php... but if you covert the promised priced $400 is only 18,800php.. jack why planet store in greenhills overpricing the samsung galaxy beam?
