yes this phone is discontinued as said by most of the stores in delhi...there must be some problem in the hardware otherwise its the best value for money in the market ryt nw..waiting for relaunch of this phone wid done by samsung

I bought this phone on 3rd Jan. Worked fine until yesterday. Screen blacked out. Restarting doesn't help. Screen stays blank, but phone rings when I receive calls. Samsung service says its a software problem. Still waiting for a fix. Regretting having bought this now.

I am using Galaxy R from last 20 days now and I have not faced any issues with the phone mentioned by several guys here. I had Wave1 before this and also had galaxy5. This is the best android phone available at this price. Screen is LCD but colors, contrast and resolution is very very good. no issues with the screen. Phone is very fast and responsive and there is no lag what so ever in anything you do with the phone, whether you are browsing the apps, internet, gallary, music etc. Its really very responsive. It comes with 2 GB ROM and 3.8 GB internal storage which is great for installing anything you want on your phone. Only thing I miss from wave is the camera. Its camera is not bad but Wave was simply great. I was hoping that both are 5 MP camera from Samsung so they will produce similar results but Wave is better. But then I found Wave's camera better then any other mobile I have seen including N8, Sensation and Arc. Only galaxy S2 has a better camera then Wave.
Guys, this is a fantastic phone with no major compromise wrt galaxy S2 and you can save almost 9000Rs. Go for it.

i bought this phone on 11 January. these is my initial impression after using it for a week.
speaking about the issues that people are mentioning in this thread,i dont have any of them.i neither faced a screen black out issue nor any accelerometer problems.every thing is working fine.this phone supports 3g speed of uptown 21 mbps.
now coming to my experience. it works seamlessly in all the operations. screen looks amazing.i have never used an amoled screen but still its amazing. i felt that the camera quality is ok but not the best. playing games on a 4.2 inch screen is a joy. though the stated memory is 8gb it has only 3.97 gb as mass memory and 1.97gb as phone memory.dont have any idea about the remaining missing 2gb. i have read in some forums that it is reserved for android system. also stated ram is 1gb but in reality u only have some 724mb available for use and a minimum of 300mb is always used by several applications no matter how ever you try to close them.so practically you will only have 400 mb of ram available any time.
speaking about the battery life with an hour of surfing the net,android market togather plus a hour of gaming plus a few calls nd some 50 to 80 messages plus watching videos for 15 to 20 minutes , the battery takes me through the day. the max it lasted for me in all these 7 days was 20 hours though. that is my constant usage everyday. i also forgot to mention that it being a new phone i always kept playing with the settings. so overall i felt that the battery life is ok.i also kept my brightness level at 30 percent.i kept killing the unnecessary applications.there is no background sync and i only switched on the data when it is necessary
one sole problem i faced is touch screen would not respond problem while i am charging the phone specially while typing messages.
sound quality is dam good.its loud and clear in both the external speaker nd Samsung provided year phones.year piece quality is also very good.its loud,crisp and clear.touch screen is smooth and responsive.
i dont about the availability of the phone elsewhere.i bought it from flipkart for 21000 indian rupees. overall i am pretty happy with the phone its a bang for the bug kind of phone .you will get everything what you paid for.

i guess the blackout story is made up by trolls. the same was roumoring about xperia neo v, and it turned out to be fake info, so... don't believe everything u read, pal ;)
