r, 14 Dec 2011the rest is for the system, it always takes a lot of memory2 GB for system?? I don't think any Linux kernel will occupy that much space!
By the way, Samsung India website has mentioned that this phone has 8GB of 'user memory'. From no angle this is true. Ultimately, the user will get only 6 GB (2 GB for system memory - for the apps you install and 4 GB as USB Storage).

Hi,
I just received my Galaxy R. On the box, its printed as 8GB. However, I see a big difference in the internal memory of this device. It's showing, 1 GB RAM, 2 GB System Storage but showing only 4 GB of USB Storage. Where is the rest?

Not happy at all with this phone...Have had it for only one month now and the little bugs are starting to emerge. Today, the phone suddenly starting freezing with a black screen (and fully charged battery). Problems also with the 'auto-rotate screen'....Give this one a miss...I'll be returning mine.

Cons:
Only 4GB Memory to use.
Not very comfortable to hold.
Kies driver err in winxp.
Pros:
Top Speed, even i underclocked it to 600mhz for better battery.
Top Screen.
Slim
2.3.5 builtin, ICS coming to it.

I too am in a confusion, I use phone for music player, and calls. May be i will browse the net once i have this phone..
LG optimus 2x comes at a cheaper rate with HDMI, but 512 RAm, where as galaxy R comes with 1gb Ram. Which battery is better? is R worth the extra amount?
