Wow! This phone is totally awesome. Although the camera just 8 MP compare to the original S4 13 MP, but the picture quality still good. The LCD screen is more naturally compare to the super amoled screen. The battery life is still okay with the 2600mAh. This waterproof phone is no problem, i took it to the swimming pool and used it to capture photo, its great, no problem with it, but ensure your back cover close completely. The speed of the phone is fast, play games without any lag. The sound quality of the phone is good. I'm happy with the phone because the phone still maintain the same function like air view, air gesture with the S4, and the 4G network is ultra fast. The price is more cheaper compared to the S4 LTE. I loved this phone very much, thanks for reading my long comment.

Since many people are bashing this phone, I got to defend it myself.
I own this phone. It is available unlocked from any carrier. And to my surprise, many people don't know the existent of this phone in my country, all they know only the flagship Galaxy S4, and the Galaxy Note 3.
Let me start by the phone feature. Nothing much different from the original S4, minus the back camera 8MP, the camera dual shot feature, LCD screen, physical button, Gorilla Glass 2, a bit bulkier. All seems like a minus from the original S4, but actually not a big deal. The camera still capture very good image, and the LCD screen is perfectly fine for everyday use. The phone comes with quality ear phone too, but this may be missing in some country.
To my surprise also, the price is much cheaper than the original S4. Cheaper than the Octa-Core 3G model, and much more cheaper than the Snapdragon Quad Core 4G model. And the S4 Active comes with 4G, Snapdragon Quad Core processor by default, and is 20% cheaper than the original 4G S4 (albeit the 4G S4 is come with 32GB internal memory).
And the LCD, actually I prefer LCD more than the AMOLED, despite with the cost of greyer black. AMOLED, to my surprise, it not like what it should be, every unit that I compared, white color has the yellowish tint, greenish tint, or blue tint, which is not my liking, and the color reproduction is overly saturated, even on the less saturated setting, and is not very stable across the variety of Galaxy device. Everything just fine on the first look, but the display seems overly unnatural. I also found that AMOLED screen is less uniform than LCD, not much, nut still, and has screen burn in issue. OK, still, it is a personal preference (compared to the S4, S3, NOTE 2 and NOTE 3 screen). It is still has a wide viewing angle(compare to Sony Xperia Z), and quite on par with HTC One. There is no problem if the screen is LCD or AMOLED. Both screen technology keep improving. And please, every phone actually sucks on direct sun light viewing, all of them actually not improving much. Plus with the screen protector cover, nothing is improved.
Lastly, the performance, it is as good as the original S4. Everything is on par with the flagship phone, with extra water protection and dust protection, it give me extra peace of mind while owning this phone.
Of course, the extra protection doesn't means you can abuse the phone. It is still a normal smartphone, and you don't dunk the phone into the water, or throw into the sand intentionally. It still need protection, but it can withstand more damage than other phone. And you don't purposely drop your phone on the ground. The gorilla glass for original S4 is claim to be tougher (Gorilla Glass 3), but that is just a claim, all my friend that drop their phone accidentally has crack their screen, and the repair cost is high, it depend on luck. The glass is still a glass, and please don't believe the extra toughness of the glass will protect the screen, it will crack too.
All in all, a very good phone, no heating up issue (unless you are a serious gamer, all phone heat up if you run heavy game), no hang(don't install third party apps from unknown source, don't install many free apps with ads on), not much lag (lag happen if you open too many apps, common norm to android device, even on NOTE 3).
Battery life is quite OK, with everyday charge on normal usage, and you don't compare to Galaxy NOTE device, these are much bigger device with bigger battery, but not really improve much for real usage (maybe a few more hour), after install many apps, play games, all around the same.
Strongly recommended for those who want a different type of phone, that perform not far from the latest offering (latest phone actually only upgrade spec on battery, processor, screen size, and RAM, but not much on functionality, the spec on S4 Active is still quite acceptable for everyday use, given the cheaper price, while still maintaining the FHD screen, Micro SD slot, Removable battery).

s4 active, 16 Nov 2013i just bought a s4 active last week and it was had a prob... morejust because you had an issue with the phone's physical parts, doesn't mean that all s4 active phones will have the same issue. You bought a faulty phone .. big deal .. you should have sent it back to the store where you bought it and demand for a replacement.

i just bought a s4 active last week
and it was had a problem with the memory card slot
when i sent to the samsung centre...
they said to me is to exchange the whole part of the behind that will cost me a fortune..
so my advice is donot buy this f**** fone...
buy other phone...all water proof phone seem to be more interesting but its just a decoy to make u spend more money to repair it later

The S4 Active is definitely waterproof, although there were sound quality issues with phone calls immediately after being submerged in water, but this resolved itself. You can also definitely use the touch screen with gloves, which is great.
If you are like me and will probably get your phone wet and want to do simple tasks like answer phone calls or change songs on your phone without taking your gloves off, then this is a great phone to have.

And guess what, Standby time is excellent when the phone is in idle mode. But, once you play with the phone, screen on time dont match the endurance of S4 active with saving mode on. I have both so im giving my opinion base on side by side experience. Thats all. Bye..

Using qualcomm snapdragon processor. 8mp camera and tft lcd screen but looks great. S4 gti9500 is an exynos octa-core version. Non water and dust resistant. Have 13mp and uses super amoled. Can get hotter some time when doing some extensive apps. Go for s4 active because i am a satisfied user until now. TQ..
